Surely the Unsc would have turned what could be weeks of spartan ops Into a quick smashing of all cruisers and then an elimination of ground forces? (or at least the vast majority of ground forces provided the covenant stayed off the surface)
Later, when the unsc found that glassman can turn on the promethean defences, would it not be wise to begin a “turn on all the turrets and aa guns and stuff so that they are all friendly and the covenant would find movement around requiem difficult?”
Perhaps even work on a few prometheans? I’m sure that eventually one person (or ai) will manage to remove the ‘evil didact mode’ that they have.
The big reason is they dont know where they are
the storm have better cloaking and can hide many things out of unsc sight
So while yes the unsc now can out power the storm… they cant find them with out a little bit of hacking and searching.
We do not know exactly how many ships he has or where they are.
> Unsc ships are now superior to covenant ones.
We are at least on equal footing, but we do not know how many UNSC ships now have shields and only the Infinity has Forerunner engines.

Jul had the support of at least one planet in the backstory, that could be hundreds of thousands up to millions if not billions of potential soldiers depending on that world’s population and that’s not counting how many surviving warriors from the “Old Covenant” have joined him nor does it count the Promethean forces of which there are no definitive numbers.
The Infinity has a total crew of 17,151 personnel. Only some of which are combat personnel. Assume the six to ten frigates that the Infinity deployed in SOPS Episode 1 are still intact, each has a complement of about 780 only a handful of which would be Marine/ODSTs. Compared to Jul’s forces the Infinity battlegroup is still heavily outmanned.

You need to first find the control systems for the defense grid, and undoubtedly they are either heavily hidden and/or heavily guarded. It is something that should be looked into however.

I would expect that only the Didact could relinquish control, or his death.
Unless the other UNSC ships have shields and precision slipsace drives like Infinity, I don’t think they’d be too much different.
Even then, as long as Jul has been smart with his forces, the UNSC could have simply never have found them, like has been said before. I’m sure there’s likely many Sangheili colony worlds unknown to the UNSC: find one with a religious majority, tell them you can find them a living god, park your fleets, and you’re set.
Heck, you could even set up your fleet in the middle of literally nowhere in the space between systems, grab a couple Agricultural Support Ships, and there’d be almost no way to find it.
I hope the next Kilo-Five book shows how Jul sets up the Remnant. It needn’t even be connected to the rest of the plot, just cut back to him gathering ships and allies now and again. Love that kind of stuff.
