The reason I am bringing this up is remember the campaign where you fall of the Guardian and you your thrusters to stop you from dying. Shouldnt they be powerful enough to make you go up?
You make a valid point… but I really don’t know.
Then we’d go back to having jetpacks unless it was only a very minimal up thrust.
I mean they’re thrusters, not a jet pack. I’m sure there’s a lore explanation behind it, but as far as I’m concerned they’re there more for momentum purposes, not flight. If you’re falling, they’ll lessen the impact, or they’ll accelerate momentum in a certain direction.
Can we just let the game be what it is for the sake of gameplay? Jet Packs were obnoxious and proved to be detrimental to the game and map flow/movement.
We don’t need to dream up a lore-related reason to explain why things should or shouldn’t be a certain way. The reason is gameplay…

True, but that’s what people are gonna call it if we’re able to fly up and move in a direction even if it’s for a short amount of time.
He’s not saying jet pack, he’s saying thrusters… we wouldn’t be flying up, we’d have a boost jump. We already know that the armor could do that. So why is it bot in the game?
You people really need to think about what he’s saying before you start spouting off about jetpacks and whatnot.

It’s just a thrust but going up.
I’d assume it’s possible for the Spartan to control which thrusters to engage, how powerful they want the thrust to be, and which direction it should go.
I’m still more concerned about the physics of Spartan Charge and Ground Pound. Shouldn’t it harm the Spartan performing one of those actions?

I don’t think it would since they are wearing armor and you are augmented. Unless they have gotten tons of pain tolerance.

Well, I didn’t necessarily mean it would cause harm to the Spartan themselves. I just think their shields should at least go down or something because of Newton’s third law.

What was that law about? Something about a reaction? If so maybe they did it for gameplay reasons.

Newton’s third law of motion states that if one object applies a force to a second object, then the second object will apply an equal force in the opposite direction towards the first. Simply put, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
It probably is for gameplay reasons, though.
Has far as thrusters are concerned, I think you bring up a valid point. Lore-wise, we should be able to use our thruster to boost upwards. Gameplay-wise, this would mean a double jump that consumes our thruster use. If it were implemented in H5, this could add another layer to acrobatics and map design (if, that is, it doesn’t break the game).
O.O . . . . . . . . I honestly wonder that myself, alongside why all the perks like invis are now no longer pre-attatched, alongside how a lot of them have been missing. I miss duping my step-brother by using the holograms

I think it wouldnt do a thing. I think they would just make the floors higher or farther distance to jump.

Because armor abilities and loadouts skewed core gameplay making starts uneven and the power gap between certain abilities. Removing them was quite a request, and they should stay as pickups.
Plus I can imagine making a map with optional jetpacks in mind was probably a pain. It certainly was in Forge.

And invalidate single jumps in light of force double jumps? Its bad enough we have to ‘clamber’ to make some jumps as is.

Maybe for some areas not trying to say for areas to be double jump. I think if they did it might just replace the whole jump thrust smart link and ground pound technique.
You are actually wrong about the thrusters saving you on Genisis as it is actually your stabilisers
