Should you be banned for quitting social games?

Didn’t have enough room in the title to say the full thing, so here it is:
Should you be banned for quitting social games such as grifball and infection? As they don’t really affect your Arena ranking

Definitely not. They should also all have JiP.

the banhammer shouldn’t, in any cases, apply to socials mode. Unfortunately it does. Even though you do affect the gameplay for other player (I’m looking at you warzone), you shouldn’t be ban.

Ranked
-Banhammer
-No JiP
-1-50 ranking (do not do seasons)
-Match teams with teams
-4v4

Social
-No banhammer
-JiP
-1-50 social rank (I believe H3 had social ranking could be wrong)
-Matches with anyone.
-4v4 or 5v5 if the maps play well with 10 players.

Both ranked and social should have proper weapon balance and even starts.

Quitters create JIP, and unbalanced play, on lists with no JIP. Habitual quitters should be banned regardless of play list.

no in infection. its ffa

Bans in social are getting ridiculous. Two quits is enough to get anyone banned from Grifball, which doesn’t make sense seeing how easy it is to get booted. If JIP is present there should at least be a less trigger happy ban hammer.

I would say that the bans should be stricter in Ranked play than in social, but social still needs to have something to deter bad behavior.

Odd I’ve left 4 arena matches yesterday and didn’t get banned. Had no choice with lag.

I lagged out of 3 games of infection yesterday and received no ban. Of course I have over 2,700 completed games and I’ve never received a ban or even quit a game on purpose. I guess the system knows that I’m not a quitter. It was really crazy lagging out like that 3 times in one day. Two of the games I couldn’t even tell where I was on the map half the time and I STILL tried to complete the rounds instead of quitting. Eventually it gave up and tossed me. lol

To the OP, I say yes, you should get bans even in social games. I’m one of the most anti quitters you’ll ever meet though. There is never a reason to quit. No matter how hard something is, how unfair it is, or any other excuse, you should never quit. This should be applied to all things in life, not just Halo.

Quitting a social game disrupts other players experiences just the same as quitting a ranked game. If you want to come and go as you please, join a customs game lobby.

I started an infection game as an infected and the other person infected quit. So it was just me. That person can piss off and get a ban.

Personally, I like the seasons…
With 1-50, it was simply too easy sometimes.
Then you can just stay at level 50.
Now, if you want champion…you gotta keep playing.

1-50 Like Halo 3 does not work. Seasons are necessary to remove inactive players who clog the system and push everyone’s rank away from where it should be. This was a big problem for Halo 3. Halo 3 did not have social ranks.

Yes, if you quit any game, social or competitive you should get banned, it prevents people from quitting when they don’t like how their game is going, and in turn ruining other people’s games

No, as long as there is jip there are no issues with someone quiting social.

Except it isn’t. JIP is not instantaneous and equivalent replacement. There is no guarantee that the person who quit will be replaced quickly or at all, much less with someone with comparable skill level. When someone quits it throws the game for a loop, JIP is a bandage. A bandage often applied too late and at the wrong spot.

You should not be banned in social games

If you quit you should get banned no matter the playlist. But what if it told you for how long you would be banned? ie quit game and be banned for 10 min. Might discourage some of the quitters.

I like this idea. There are some games I have wanted to quit in the past because everyone else bailed and new players didn’t join in, but wouldn’t because I didn’t want to face a lengthy ban. But if we knew the length, this would help make that decision a little easier either way.
