Ever have that moment where there’s a forge map that you recall by name, but don’t precisely remember what map it was? And how the thumbnail just reveals that it’s a forge world map.
So I was thinking how would others think if 343i implement a camera feature to let us take a thumbnail of our maps that way we can recognize them at a glance as well as by name.
I’ve wanted this for a while now.
It should be simple and easy.
They can do this one of two ways.
Since Reach, we’ve had the ability to set the ‘Initial Loadout Camera’.
This could be used to set the thumbnail.
Either by placing an ‘Initial Loadout Camera’ and setting it to ‘Thumbnail’.
Or by having a separate Forge object named the ‘Thumbnail Camera’.
Another way would be to simply move into the desired position using your Forge monitor, and then pressing ‘Start’, and selecting ‘Set Thumbnail’.
Either way would work.
Both methods have their advantages.
The first method can be applied to different gametypes.
The second method allows the player to see what the thumbnail will look like without having to end the game.
