Should we even buy the new maps?

I haven’t played landfall or the castle DLC maps since the specific playlists for them went away. SO…unless I plan to use them in lots of custom games, then whats the point?

Unless there is a Forge map… I don’t see the point.

Well, you can’t get the new Stances, or several of the new weapon skins without the Maps, since they are part of the bonus that requires you to get the 3 DLC bundle.

And Team Throwdown is definitely going to require the DLC for Pitfall, so if you like Throwdown, you’ll need the pack.

Ricochet (both the gametype and the armour) are also exclusive to the Map Pack portion of the DLC. So you need it to use them. I’d also assume that any Ricochet playlist would require Pitfall, since the gametype was made with Pitfall in mind.

Yes. If people would buy the map packs they would be more frequent. The reason the rarely come up is that people don’t buy them. I hope all future Halo map packs are like this one. Since a lot of player these days care more about aesthetics then anything else, hopefully adding stances, armor, and weapon skins to the packs gets more people to buy them.

with how the game plays on this title i cant justify buying any. i know i will never end up playing it enough to pay that price.

that makes me sad.

Unless you buy them separately, which you can do.

He’s talking about the bonus stuff.

I thought there was the champion BUNDLE and then separate components of this dlc for sale?

If he wants everything but the maps it’s cheaper to buy the Bundle

So a few toys you’ll get bored with in half-an-hour, potential access to the most competitive playlist in Halo 4 (with a daily peak population of <700), and a gametype that will be made available to the rest of the community two weeks after the Champion’s Bundle launches makes the purchase worthwhile? Even though the odds of seeing Pitfall or Vertigo in matchmaking will be roughly the same as with Crimson, Castle, and Majestic DLC (i.e.: slim to nil)?

I learned my lesson with the Anniversary Maps. Once they removed the Anni BTB playlist I never saw those maps again. I refuse to waste my money on the off chance I’ll get a DLC map once in a blue moon.

Whether you wanna buy it or not is your right as a consumer. Don’t really see anything to discuss. You want it or you don’t. We can’t make you spend money or not. Value is defined by you (no matter what the game companies want you to think).

The new maps / you will likey only play them in a DLC only playlist = Not fun

Armor looks cool along with everything else

So I believe I will be spending my money on the armor and stance and the new maps are a + if I can find them in mm

I hardly play matchmaking anymore, and my inner circle of custom buddies will most likely be buying the maps, so I see no issue in getting them.
I predict these maps will be the most popular due to the lower price point & the inclusion of Pit. I see the Majestic maps come up fairly commonly.

Regretted buying the first season Pass. This game will be the first Halo where I don’t buy all DLC.

Unless all the old DLC receives a price drop or some kind of event brings DLC population up, I just don’t see the value.

DLC was awesome for Halo 2 and Halo 3. Why did it work there and not now?

It worked perfectly for Halo 2 because they became free after a certain amount of time. They then subsequently became required to play and they were just integrated into matchmaking like any other map.

It worked perfectly for Halo 3 because that game was popular and great out of the box. Almost every Halo fan bought the map pack and the maps came up frequently.

Now, we have a game that was disappointing on release, which was then title updated into a great game. It missed its great start, people left and are still leaving. And not enough people buy the map packs to make them appear. Unless you play throwdown, where everyone wants to practice their play on skyline… it pops up there frequently.

So what we have learned from this is…: Force people to buy the maps somehow. making them free after a certain period of time is the only option left. The extra customisation options that come with this map pack are a very good start, but are certainly not enough to convince everyone to buy your map pack.

I’m on the fence yet. The pay-for-DLC model hasn’t worked very well the past two Halos, and I hardly ever see DLC maps in Halo 4 matchmaking. Even a DLC-only playlist doesn’t cut it for me.

Make maps free and find another revenue stream.

Free maps = more of the good maps getting voted for = overall better fun = higher population = more players who will spend money on other things. I truly believe it’s that simple.

That being said, the weapon skins and armor are neat, and the price point is low enough that I just might shell out for the bundle, even though I have no illusions about how bad that map investment will be.

Put another way, if there weren’t armor/skins/stances, I wouldn’t shell out for the maps/richocet.

well im not at all interested in richocet gametype and ive decided im not getting the maps. I aint buying them to play them for a couple weeks,ha.

I think I’m just put off by the fact that I paid for poop maps and now that good maps are coming out… There isn’t a population that will be there to make them worth getting. Even if they gave the maps out for free, there wouldn’t be enough people online for a great matchmaking experience.

There will be a short spike of halo activity… Then back to normal, near flatline. Kudos to 343 and the map makers for trying. Many thanks.
