I doubt they will do it, but then I think back to games like 3 and Reach.
When Reach first came out, I didn’t have it, so I would go to a friend’s house to play. Using a guest profile, we were able to play the entire campaign even though I didn’t own it. This was with splitscreen of course.
Heck, even on the Nintendo DS, you could play Mario Kart (only the first two grand prix) if you didn’t have the game.
I think a Demo of the Ringfall segment mission would be good enough for a little taste of the campaign though.
Maybe stop coming up with “hidden messages” and read what’s being said?
Would you have access to the campaign 24/7?
Could you at your own leisure pick up where you left off?
This logic dictates that every single game featuring splitscreen is free-to-play.
Never has F2P been associated with game-sharing of any kind, because it describes a game being free, giving the user the same rights, as if it had been a normal commercial game, often featuring some privileges to paying users.
Contradiction. You suggested borrowing the campaign, and now they have no right to play because they didn’t pay.
Are you the arbiter of who has the right to play Halo?
But couch Co-op and borrowing is not free to play…
the one’s that own the campaign mode have PAY for it with real money.
and if someone that not own the campaign mode is playing the campaign mode its FREE for then.
and thats the main problem from your idea.
that people that have PAY for the campaign not wane have that people that NOT HAVE PAY for it are going to play the campaign mode also.
all is it in Co-Op mode with the one’s that own then thats something people that own the campaing mode call free to play for the one’s that not own a copy from the game.
@Naqser
I think you know that game lending, Couch co-op, and Online co-op are not the same thing. You are drawing false equivalencies between them for the sake of argument. On the other side of this @Spikanor is clearly using the term Free-to-play incorrectly. But, judging from their spelling, English might not be their first language therefore there might be a something there causing a case of “lost in translation.”
I also don’t think Blizzard was happy that those people were pirating Warcraft II. I don’t think brining up theft is a good way to ask for something to be made free.
You’re right, StarCraft 2 is the exception in that list you made because it went Free to Play for it’s multiplayer and paid for it’s campaigns. As of right now Infinite and StarCraft 2 offer the same deal.
Why are you using paid online content for as a negative? I thought you were ok with restricting unlocks for people using a hypothetical free campaign guest pass. Both situations offer people free access to the gameplay without getting cosmetics. But, according to you, one is good PR and the other is bad PR. Judging by the online half, people would play the campaign for free with a friend and then demand to have their cosmetics unlocked without having to pay there too? “I already collected them in co-op, I should not have to buy the game or game pass to have access to what I earned. Gosh 343i is so soulless and money hungry. Nobody asked this game to be free to play”
To me this sounds more like you are playing the Devil’s advocate for the sake of playing Devil’s advocate more than “rarely asking questions.” This game is on game pass, therefore the access to the campaign is already supper cheap. For people owning a console that is $250-$550, you guys can’t spare $1 for a month of game pass? I’ve seen some cheap people before, but this whole thread boils down to not wanting to pay a dollar.
@SaviorNight
Don’t say that you are not asking for the campaign to be free. That is exactly what you are asking for so quit doing this song and dance just because you worded it slightly different. You say “co-op only,” like that somehow does not give you free access to paid content. Looking at your old posts it’s clear that this is what you are doing since a decent amount of your created topics are begging for free stuff.
Topics like:
“Aren’t Microtransactions Banned?”
“Free 1,000 Credits To Start With Or A Free Battle Pass Ticket?”
“Of Course Credits Are Only Available To Paid Users”
“When Will Heroes Of Reach Become Free?”
Other than your topics, there are also these comments:
“I’m one of the couple of people who didn’t buy anything in HI”
“Just like how I didn’t buy season 1, I won’t buy season 2.”
“The pass has credits, but they’re not free.”
“Maybe they can make that pass free for everyone, and the people who paid for it get rewarded with a new pass or credits.”
“Paid games are better than f2p ones.” ← this one is ironic considering all your requests
“No one asked for it to be f2p” ← also an ironic thing for you to say
I know you hate receipts because of the “How Do You Hide Posts?” and “Please Get Rid Of The Post History Feature” threads you’ve made. Your post history, thankfully, is filled with requests after request to get content others have paid for at no cost to you. Simply put you are a beggar, this much is clear as day. This thread is just another feather in your cap.
@BlueDevistator
I don’t think letting people have access to the entire campaign for free would result in more sales of the campaign. Similar to helping people out professionally at no charge, it will become expected to not have to pay for more and more.
However, free access to the first mission could maybe result in more game/game pass sales.
@Naqser
To add a little to my reply to you. I’m not saying that I care one way or another if this happens or not. I’m only trying to think if the reason you mentioned would make 343i even consider the idea. And i don’t think they would despite some of your points having presidents.
wow
that are a lot off threads he has make by asking a lot off things to get it for free without paying is on a compleet diffrend level more to go that far.
its also good proof there is he only wane get stuff or play stuff for free and really not wane pay for it.
this is really asking for a compleet game to become free without anything to pay for if you look good.
edit:
i know my english is crap and its also not my first language.
and i know also my spelling is not that good but i keep trying each time so that people still understand it good.
sadly its not the first time people told me that.
Those posts may be old but they still help to determine a pattern of behavior you exhibit. The pattern here being you trying to get access to paid content without spending a cent. You say now that “it’s obvious that 343 won’t make those free.” Yet here you are. Making another request to have free access to another part of the paid game.
For pricing, lending and couch Co-op is the same.
Online Co-Op where you can join a lobby of someone owning the campaign, it’s the same.
Lacking official Splitscreen Co-Op, with my suggested restrictions, and adding no unlocks of cosmetics as I forgot about those, then it’s pretty much the same outside of practice.
Blizzard themselves implemented a system where the game would check for a single CD in the lobby. So, you’d have one CD, install it on up to 8 computers, keep the CD in the tray for one, boot up the game and the Multiplayer, the game would check and confirm one CD and it was good to go.
Starcraft 2 went through a few iterations before landing where it is now.
Arcade was extremely restricted initially…
The driving factor of F2P and Infinite’s entire model is churning out cosmetics after cosmetics on a regular basis while having had an actual gameplay issue riddled game.
The cosmetics aren’t complementary to the game but the driving force of it all.
Decisions made during development negatively impacted customization, namely keeping Armor Coats non-customizable, all the while going on about “Players first”.
Millions of customization combinations upon launch? So we got 11 Armor Coats, some Emblems to slap on our armor, weapons and vehicles, a few voices, body sizes and glowy AI and their colors.
As per i343 being “technically” correct, and misleading.
On top of that, FOMO was not to be used, yet here we’ve been with rotating store items / bundles and weekly rewards for completing challenges.
Aaand battlepasses filled with items which speed up the battlepass progression.
Mhm.
I completely understand MTXs are required in a F2P game, it’s the handling of the entire operation that’s horrendous.
Additionally, the campaign wouldn’t be freely available, now would it, any guest player would be dependent on someone else’s availability.
Allowing people to share access to paid content vs greedy and manipulative tactics. MP MTXs could’ve been done so much better.
Is that what you would do after an information sign informing you of what you’re in for as a campaign guest?
Right.
Asking for a reason, and getting one, rarely matter.
Because, and this is important, there’s no guarantee the person is telling the truth, and, there’ll be people who’ll regard it as a lie, even if the person stating the reason is truthful.
I do think that has been stated quite a few times already thank you very much.
It’s not always about the money.
Sometimes it’s hard getting out of bed in the mornings.
That $1 has you upgrade to game pass, and unless they’ve updated things since I upgraded to UGP, there’s no downgrade option to revert back to Xbox Live Gold if that’s what you use. A little more simple if you have no paid subscription, then again, you’d need to enter payment methods and verify those and stuff if you haven’t got them in.
Anyway, to “downgrade”, what I found was canceling the subscription, letting it end, and then subscribe again to what you had before, if you had another one. That’s if you’re on Xbox.
No idea how it works on Steam but I guess they have a basic XBL account they use, but there are still quite a lot of hoops to go through, with having to share more information.
Now let’s ponder a little.
Anyone who’s actively interested in Infinite, do we assume they’d be prepared to pay for the campaign?
They could go through the hoops to acquire it, no?
Now, if I as an owner were to ask in my circuits who’d like to play Co-Op, and the people in it aren’t that familiar with Halo outside knowing it exists, but show some interest, what are the chances they’d jump on considering the steps they’d have to take in order to get into my lobby?
Versus the same scenario and far less steps, essentially getting an XBL account and getting on after downloading it. Less steps, easier to get started, quite convenient.
The money isn’t always the reason.
No they won’t do it.
Any publicity they get out of it is, limited, as it’d be campaign directed, and it’s frankly a mediocre campaign. People would have to know someone who owns the campaign to get in on the deal, unless they make some sort of agreement with someone else, one buys and shares.
So, sales might go up slightly, questionable if they deem it a good investment.
Chances are higher the campaign will become free to play for real if there’s a major Story DLC at some point, as a way to garner interest in that for people who haven’t played the original campaign.
As far as pricing goes. Sure. I fully agree with you.
Not in practice nor the set up of the systems required to check for the variables.
Exactly. We’re on the same page in regards to the practice side.
This reason i understand. I however do not agree that a lack of split screen entitles users to free online co-op as split screen it self is a practice abandoned by most modern games. Nearly all of which do not offer free online co-op. Exceptions exist, but more times than not they just prove the rule instead of setting a gaming standard.
That is just how a lot of gaming was back in the 90’s since CD key verifications would not become strongly implemented until mid-late 2000’s. This was not the result of blizzard intentionally making it so 1 CD could be installed on infinite number of computers. I could burn Diablo 1 100 times, and give it 100 people. That does not mean that’s what the company intended or wanted.
No. I also would not complain about mtx in a free to play game but as you have already said, people clearly did not take those well either. I just honestly can’t see people like @SaviorNight be happy with just free co-op. They will inevitably ask to get the unlocks for free. Then move on to say “i can already play free in co-op, so just let me play for free solo.” It’s the free loader mentality.
???
This is misinformation. You can go back to just Xbox Live Gold after your game pass subscription ends. The option is always there.
Is free online co-op access not free access?
You’re making the concept of buying digital/physicals games or getting out of bed sound like Herculean task. It’s not a complicated process and takes the same amount of effort as downloading the game and making an account to play it.
But in the spirit of offering a solution instead of simply tearing ideas down. Wouldn’t a demo for the campaign also help undecided players make up their purchase choices?
It could, it could also not. I know destiny made it’s year 1 content free, but at that point they still had like 5 years of content to charge for. Who knows when Infinite will reach that point with all of the slow updates and to-this-day missing features
No. That was a preamble to lead to my “free access to the first mission” suggestion as an ultramarine to the “free co-op access” idea. Because I do not see there being any encouragement to buy the campaign if there is a free way to play all of it without paying.
I had also made that comment before you clarified that you wanted a watered down demo version of the campaign. As my comments take sometimes more than a day to be approved for posting, i could not take your further elaborations into account.
I was not trying to say that you are not making a good effort or not making sense. I just wanted the people replying to you to have the context in mind that some terms you use might be incorrect because of the language barrier. English is my 4th language so I understand and identify when others are also learning a new tongue. From my point of view, you’re doing pretty good for someone who is learning.
Without further elaboration on how your idea of free access “could look a thousand different ways”, I assumed that is what you were defaulting to a ‘yes’ on blanket free access through co-op. My mistake.
i can tell you for sure a lot off people understand that really good since this is a open forum and not a region lock forum.
so yea you get people that are not good in english also on the forum.
its still better then what some others do by posting it in there own language what is not english at all.
thanks i have learn english for the most part from online game’s like MMORPG game’s and not from school.
