Should they kill of Master Chief?

Master Chief has been the staple of the halo series for years now but is it time for him to die? I think Master Chiefs death could be one of the saddest and probably most heroic death ever in a video game (If 343 doesn’t mess it up) but would it help Halo? The’ve made Halo games not about Chief and they were popular but they weren’t replacing chief. If he died and they made a new main character they would be. I do think he should die but not in the near future. I want to know your guys opinions.

If they kill off Master Chief I’ll never play another one of these games.

They dont have to “kill off Master Chief” but it would be nice if we could play expanded campaigns with OUR SPARTANS and not 4 Master Chiefs…

The reaction to h5 is ample proof that the fanbase wouldn’t accept it.

Also, people rumoring that NEXT GAME is the one where chief dies or retires has been a common tactic to get people riled up for pretty much as long as halo has had forums.

I completely agree with more non-chief content, but the fanbase is pretty clear it wants main games to be chief-focused (and have a solid amount of play time)

Having him retire would be the dumbest thing they could do for master chief.

Also where did you hear that rumor?

As I said, its a ‘rumor’ people spread around whenever there’s a new halo game, and its proven wrong every time.

If Master Chief should die, they should not make it so direct.

For example, roof collapsing on him, explosion blinding audience view, door closing behind ext.

And the legendary mode ending is just him walking away, “finding his way back to humanity” but overall is just the last time we ever see the Chief… wait a second, the Halo 3 ending was exactly this~~~

So how do you suggest killing him off?

How he should be “killed off” is just getting him out of the picture. Nobody really wants him dead, but he deserves a sendoff away from the universe.

In the walking dead series, the MC hinted his death when he blew himself up, sacrificing himself for his people. In the end, it was shown that he was still alive and just carried off to a different part of the world.

Master Chief should “die” doing what he does best: Fighting off an onslaught of inevitable odds and surviving off of sheer luck. For example, maybe blowing up the Cartographer to prevent a Halo ring from firing. His exits are blocked, his only chance is to manually detonate, and we get an outside POV of the collapse. Maybe in the post credits, it shows him still alive doing extra work that I don’t really want to dive into rn

Thats kind of how Halo 3 ends. If they were going to take him from center stage they should have done it then.

This is why i am fine with a total retcon of just the 343 games or 343 just starting comepletly over because then i feel they would finally stop tarnishing CE-H3’s legacy by making characters change in ways that don’t fit the original trilogy.
