Should there be Health bars in Halo 4 or just plain Shielding?

I personally prefer the idea of just shields, I think it creates better balance in the sense that when your shields recharge there is no weak underlying health which creates huge unbalance. By having just shields, you wait till their strong enough again and then you’re at the same level as everyone else with no problem and the game is moving fast again.

There is health in every Halo.

What you are arguing for is regenerating health vs non-regenerating health.

I’d like health bars either way.

that makes pretty much no sense. How does having health create “imbalance”.

If you don’t wait until your shields are recharged before you go into a fight, you’ll be dead in a few hits or one headshot

I think the game should just display your shields and have the health be invisible like it was in Halo 2 and 3

I’m talking about the Halo 3 way. In Reach someone can get you down to one shot and then shoot you in the body once and they win because your health didn’t regenerate.

Yeah pretty much, I hate the way it works in Reach, if they were going to keep it they would have to order it differently and make it recharge with out the use of health packs.

I’d prefer just shields with invisible regenerating health, like in Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Yeah, I agree. Whether it is visible or not doesn’t matter much to me, I just want it to regenerate without health packs.

There is going to be health, just not visible (no health bar).

This.

And besides, 343 has already said that there won’t be health packs, but it will be shields with invisible regenerating health. Take a look at the First Look vidoc.

While I do love having the health pack system in Reach, not having them in Halo 4 (and therefore moving to the invisible regenerating health system from Halo 2/3) does lead to somewhat more action packed gameplay, since you’re not busy trying to find a health pack when you’re at low health. Many would argue that this is a good thing, and I can’t disagree with them.

Just shields. No health packs, they slow down gameplay.

This.

Doesn’t make a difference to me.

I like the H2 and H3 health. But I think it should be visible.

I preferred the Halo 2/3 method of fully regenerating health.

well, if you look at the timeline reach and ce had health bars. then in halo 2, master chief was given new armor with no health bars. it wouldn’t make sense if master chief all of a sudden downgraded to having health bars. nothing is probably gonna change from halo 2, 3 based on the revealed gameplay, which is what i prefer.

You can have regenerating health (i.e., no health packs) and also have visible health bars. They are not mutually exclusive.

This matters because, at least in Halo 2 and 3, health regenerated at a different rate from shields and so you may not know how much health you actually have.

If health regenerated at exactly the same rate, then it doesn’t matter, don’t need visible health.

I don’t even…
