Should there be a raise in the level cap?

Is it just me or are there less and less SR 20’s and 30’s. Also it is super easy to level up fast. I think there should be a raise in the level cap. What do you guys thinks?

I don’t think there should be a level cap at all. I see no reason for one honestly unless the are planning to add unlockable to the game. If that’s the case, I think whenever they raise it the should give an exclusive to everyone that has already it the cap, as to compensate them for all that playtime that didn’t have any effect on their rank.

I made a post about this back in the day, instead of levels, how about the SR ranks are “Spartan School” and once you hit 130 you graduate and go out into the field. Of course you still use the Infinity Simulator but instead of 131, you’ll get stripes to add to your 130

It says clearly that humans are now the giants in the universe and I’m guessing its through the Spartan IV program which I’m sure is fairly expensive and they wanna make damn sure the Spartans they send out to battle, are going to survive!

So after extensive training, Spartans who hit level 130 are jettisoned to battles that aren’t simulations. Kick some -Yoink- in some other area of the galaxy and come back to Infinity for R&R between skirmishes to kick some recruit -Yoink-! How cool would it be if 343i released Battle Scarred Armor for those who reach a certain rank!?

Anyone who played Reach will tell you that gaining ranks took FOREVER, and if you run into the highest ranked Spartan in battle(Inheritor), you knew you were in for one heck of a fight.

No, there should not be. Because then they’d have to add new perks and re-balance the game, and… it’s just too much.

But hey, we get Competitive-Spartan-Rank in April, try ranking yourself up to a 50, and please try to persuade 343i that it is better to add this in-game rather than a waypoint addition.

I honestly don’t really care. Once CSR is released I’m not going to care about my SR rank at all. Not that I do now anyway…

I do agree that it should have been much higher to start with. Maybe keep the same format but make the max level much higher.

Since 130 is such a random number I’ve been very reluctant to play on my SR130 account for fear of completing commendations worth a lot of experience points and finding out in a few months that they are adding a few more ranks.

I would welcome some more ranks but I agree adding more perks would complicate balancing so maybe just some new armour, skins, visor colours and other cosmetic unlocks.

I reached SR130 with only 30% commendation completion the other 70% just seems like a massive waste.

I think they should raise the cap. I just like getting experience from games, challenges, and commendations. Seeing that bar fill up is just a nice feeling I get from videogames. I honestly don’t know why they made the cap so low as well, you were able to get to 130 within the first month of the game, while Halo: Reach took way longer just to get into the symbol ranks past General.

They don’t even have to add new Specializations or armor (though that would be nice); just make the level cap higher.

A skill ranking system aside, because the CSR system is coming in April, I say why not have an experience ranking system with essentially no cap… one that would be pretty much an impossible task to max out on.

So what if the specializations get maxed out at SR130. I don’t think they should be the reason the ranking indicator should be stopped. Or maybe the SR ranks shouldn’t be the true indicator for a persons game experience, perhaps there should be another ranking indicator for that. This additional rank should be more inline with that from Halo: Reach, so that a player would have their Spartan specialization ranking (SR), one for their overall Halo 4 experience (similar to Halo: Reach’s system), one for their playlist/gameplay skill (CSR), and then there’s probably -Yoink!-'s TrueSkill rank that’ll continue working in the background as well.

The point is, by introducing a true experience ranking system or simply allowing the Spartan Ranks (SR) to continue on after completing the specializations it’s just a form of reference for a player’s time with the game, nothing more, nothing less, so why not allow it if it simply helps encourage people to stay engaged with the game. It doesn’t actually hurt anything to have it in the game and have it with a practically unreachable cap. Btw, I like some of the things mentioned by DJ LU1GI in regards to this topic too.

If there wasn’t any way for a new experience ranking system to be integrated into Halo 4 then allow the Spartan Ranks to continue on past 130, but I’d like to see them become more like Halo: Reach’s experience system after getting past SR130 in that every rank afterwards continues becoming significantly more and more lengthy to complete. This way when you see someone with a rank of around SR200+ or god forbid SR500+, you know that that person has put a ridiculous amount of time into the game. I’d say it should be set up so that it would be pretty much impossible for anyone to ever max out at SR999.

Now these experience rankings don’t necessarily indicate whether or not a person is a skillful player. A high experience rank will only indicate their time with the game, but it probably will be a reasonable expectation to believe that a high experience rank will coincide with a decent, if not high skill rank (CSR). Hopefully, CSR will be something that can actually be viewed through a players combat record (343i has a lot of pressure on them from the community to allow this to be viewable in game), so that if you see someone with a high experience rank and it gets you wondering what their skill rank may be, you can simply verify that through their combat record.

As I see it, there’s no reason not to have multiple forms of encouragement to keep people interested and engaged with the game and an experience ranking system that doesn’t necessarily have an attainable cap is just another way to do so. If it doesn’t require a ton of reworking the game to incorporate, I say why not have it as it’s own system, separate from the Spartan Ranks.

I still think where the Mastery disappears when you enter a playlist will display CSR1-50 once you hit SR130.

Has anyone ever noticed that on the Xbox Waypoint version it says 2147145247 XP to next rank when at SR130? On the web version it says MAX RANK. It’s weird.

This is another reason why I think CSR will be visible. Why make it so easy to reach SR130? On top of that, why have the challenges been pretty easy with high payouts lately. Seems like they want to get as many people to SR130 as possible before the end of April.

SR 343 would be a fun max rank

Raising the rank cap doesn’t necessarily mean they have to add more specializations. Instead we could just have the eight specs and a ranking system similar to reach that takes a year or two to hit max. OR remove the rank cap entirely and let it be (near) infinite - add some insanely high cap no one will ever get to. If this was implemented then it might add some new competition to the game to see who can reach the highest rank possible. Honestly I think we need to get rid of many of the tactical+support mods and armour abilities. Or make these an option in ONE playlist only.
