I have no constructive feedback for this post, only the opinion of a Halo Veteran.
The name Cortana kind of leaves a sour taste in my mouth as of these past few years since Halo 5’s release.
As much of a fan of the AI Cortana as I was since first booting up Combat Evolved for the first time, I feel it’s time to let Cortana go and let this new AI take the spotlight. Us as the player has had many adventures with Cortana, even the thought of all we’ve done with her, the witty remarks and so on gives me a pleasant feeling of nostalgia that only Halo fans can relate too.
Halo 5 was a nightmare to put it bluntly, however, the narrative for Cortana got us to where we are now… and I feel like pinning the name Cortana on this new AI for nostalgia sake sort of slaps the legacy she left behind right in the mandibles
So let’s enjoy the show and see what this new AI can do.

The Mass Effect statement is not comparable in my opinion. The Quarians feared A.I and the Geth were originally meant to be a labor force. The Quarians had no intention on creating actual A.I. The UNSC on the other hand created A.I on purpose to utilize them as tools. The article for dispensation is in place due to A.I in the Halo universe falling into rampancy. As for Doisac, after the events of Halo 3, and this is just a guess, but I would assume the Human fleets were decimated and were spread to thin to launch a full scale assault on the Banished home world. And if they had left it would have left Earth vulnerable. Also, it would depend on when Atriox goes back and kills Cortana. If he kills her between the events of Halo 5 to now, neither would win and Doisac would still be saved. As for Del Rio, he simply followed protocol. Chiefs actions did save everyone, but the Infinity did punch through the Didact’s ship. Are the shields impenetrable as well? If not I would contend that retreating to earth would give enough time to rally the entire fleet to bombard the Didact before using the Composer upon arrival.
Actually they are the same. Geth aren’t the physical shells they use. Legion calls himself that because he’s actually a few hundred separate digital programmes communicating with eachother within the body he happens to inhabit. His body is no more him than Chiefs armour is an extension of Cortana. If you destroy a shell it just goes back to a server where it can be downloaded. In other words they are just as much digital beings as a Halo AI.
Physical labour is a bit misleading. The Geth are programmes. Having a physical body be a servant or do manual labour helps us the audience understand the slavery analogy. But the point Tali makes is that the Quarians knew the issue was treating them as automata and slaves; eventually there would be a conflict there. In Contact Harvest you do have AI overseeing agricultural machines so in a sense they are doing the same tasks as the Geth did with their shells. So the same issue applies.
They have the Article of Dispensation for Rampancy. But, characters are shown to not consider the AI to be really people and in Halo Infinite we see that there is precedent for deleting an AI which clearly isn’t rampant. So the only reason the UNSC didn’t (pre Halo 5) panic like the Quarians is due to hubris and arrogance rather than out of compassion or altruism. It stands to reason that if an AI did refuse an order they would be deleted or assumed to be going rampant early.
The UNSC rebuilt its fleet after Halo 3 like what we see with the Infinity. “We are the giants” and all that. In Glasslanss the Infinity is even able to get into orbit above Sanghelios.
I came up with a new one.
Cortana doesn’t make that much sense, considering that The Weapon would probably not want to share the name of someone who had committed such heinous acts with The Guardians.
So I suspect that she would choose a name that is more respectable.
My guess is Catherine will be Cortana 2.0’s name.
But Tali clearly states that the Quarians didn’t break any laws concerning the creation of A.I when Shephard asks why the Citadel council didn’t step in and stop it. The programmes were created to give the Geth the ability to perform more complex tasks. The Quarians didn’t intend for the Geth to become true A.I. Once the Quarians discovered the mistake they attempted to pull the plug. They never intended to enslave A.I, because they knew they couldn’t. The UNSC on the other hand pressed A.I into service intentionally. I guess it’s subjective if you consider A.I to actually be people. Therefore subjective to view it as slavery. The precedent for deleting A.I only manifested after the actions Cortana had taken. Was Cortana’s actions the result of the Logic Plague? She stated in the echo that “There was something far worse than the flood.” Who was she talking about? The Endless? The Primordial? Offensive Bias? If that’s the case I contend that if she was infected she wouldn’t have called it worse. Mendicant Bias turned on the Forerunners and I doubt it sided with something it thinks is “worse.”
Yes, but that’s the point. The Quarians reaction to the Geths question was with violence and repression. Which causes the Geth to revolt and the Quarians being driven off their homeworld. Interesting parallel with the Banished BTW.
But they weren’t covering up things because they were worried about the Council but as we see in the AI Flashbacks because they were terrified of the Geth. The whole premise is that the Quarians fear of AI causes the war and what they dread to happen.
Whereas the UNSC basically don’t seriously fear their AI before Halo 5. They do just see them as tools and so you don’t have that inciting incident or panic that the Quarians did. But that’s based on the belief they can control their AI whereas the Quarians felt they couldn’t control an AI Singularity. Granted, AI in Halo have that Bladerunner lifespan so perhaps that impacts the human viewpoint as well. But it’s not from a good place that the UNSC didn’t do what the Quarians did before Halo 5.
Oh yeah. If they don’t reveal Cortana had the Logic Plague I would be amazed at this point. The bit where she says “why would I release the Flood?” is just one of many instances to make you ask that question. How does she go from this innocent AI who wants to save the Galaxy to a brutal planet destroying tyrant who rules with fear.

God, I miss conversations like this. It’s a healthy distraction from all the B.S lately. Thanks for indulging.

Nah thay just made here bad like that so thay could get rid of here. Not to say i don’t like the Weapon but a M game or a T game which one do the adult let’s there kids play more? And what do free to play games love to pray on? Mom and Dads credit card? It’s sad because you can tell someone was trying to make a good Halo game but greed won that fight.
I don’t understand how the age-rating and micro-transactions are relevant to the weapon’s name
I was replying to some one but forgot to link it to there name.
