I’m glad that 343 is giving us something to look forward to every month, but looking at the content that comes in these Updates, do you guys think it would benefit everybody more if they did a Update every other month, as opposed to every month?
The reason I ask this is simple. We don’t always get a new map for the particular portion of the game that we play. Sometimes its Arena, sometimes its Warzone. And what happens is that when a new map is dropped it is weighted more heavily in playlists. I’m sure that the whole last month ive played on Riptide 8 out of every 10 matches. While I like Riptide, I don’t want to play it THAT often. And now the same thing is going to happen with Torque. My first 2 arena games I played today were Torque (luckily the last 2 weren’t). I think that by releasing these updates later, allows them to put more content into each update, and avoids 1 particular map being weighted too heavily just because it is a new map. Also it avoids the inevitable disappointment when an update is slighted more heavily on new req’s that a majority of the community will not even get to see or use, simply because they don’t play WZ, or they haven’t completed all of their base reqs yet.
Look, I know it isn’t gonna happen, but I just thought I would throw it out there. I’m excited about the future updates that 343 has detailed, but I feel like it might turn out like all of these previous updates have, where the hype, and anticipation is more fun and exciting than the actual update is when it releases. For me, the biggest part of this update that I was looking forward to was the Emblem and Spartan Color changes. Grifball was exciting for me too, until I played a couple of games, and seen people being booted left and right for betrayals, which is GOING TO HAPPEN IN GRIFBALL. Also a 2 month cycle will also give 343 time to (hopefully) realize that things like being booted for betrayal’s in Grif shouldn’t happen, and KDA tracking in Social Playlists shouldn’t happen

I like the idea of an every other month content release, and all of your points are valid and make sense, but if the game stays in it’s current state for the next two months, would you be fine with the game as it is? With all of it’s… (for lack of a better term) “issues”. Now, I like your idea, but all I am saying is that every other month may not be 343i’s best plan of action.

I think so. Even though we’ve had 3 updates so far, the game doesn’t feel all that different (aside from the controls update). The game felt like garbage to me at launch because of the aiming, and the lack of established game modes, and features we have been accustomed to from Halo was just the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. But since the controls update, even 2 updates later it still feels the same. It just feels like we are being drip fed monthly updates since 343 has to play catch up to make up for the barebones launch. I guess its a catch 22 though, because I don’t feel like there is enough content in an update to keep my interest for the entire month, but then again I expect 2 months worth of content to somehow keep me interested for another 2 months. It does sound kind of hypocritical now when I think about it lol
