Should the Sticky Det be a grenade pickup?

Because I’m more inclined to think that it should be classified as a Grenade pickup from the map given it’s intended and niched roll as a trap weapon and poor offensive capabilities make it a poor Power Weapon overall.

It’s got a deadly blast radius.

With a little accuracy and maybe some surprise, direct-fire (if you count adjacent ground as direct) works just fine.

If we’re going to have an area denial grenade, I’d rather they bring back incendiary grenades instead.

I just don’t see it working any better as a grenade than a weapon.

i would bet that gun gets left out of Halo x1

Less area denial and more remote detonated charge.

And if it works at a grenade it’s not eating a weapon slot.

Here’s hoping! I want the grenade launcher back.

Unfortunately I think they felt the skill gap was too large and unforgiving.

What was so hard about it? You just needed to learn how to bounce it, didn’t you?

I’ve always had a split relationship with the sticky detonator since it replaced my favourite weapon addition in the franchise the Grenade Launcher. But it does have its perks. The radar screen is much better and more intuitive than the x1/x2… indicator on the grenade launcher. The double tap remote detonation I think also works better than the hold and release detonation of the grenade launcher since you can switch weapons and lay traps unencumbered. But it lost the emp effect and it lost mid air detonations.

I do think the Sticky Det is powerful enough to deserve the title power weapon. I mean its blast radius is larger than the Rocket launchers.

I’m still on the fence that I think the radius should be decreased slightly, in favour of the return of mid air detonations. If we are only going to have only 1 remote detonation weapon I think it should have this ability.

You had to learn to bounce it. You had to get a feel for the minimum manual detonation range. You had to lead targets. You had to have a very good feel for the projectile travel speed or else have a much better sense of depth perception for those few grey pixels on the screen than I did.

It definitely had a larger skill gap than any power weapon except for maybe the sniper rifle imo. That’s why many players utterly ignored it but I ended up with something like a 6 k/d with it.

This. The “Pro-pipe” was probably the best addition to the series’ weapon sandbox since the G-Hammer.
