should the sniper rifle be removed from halo?

First I have played all the games for years. Now, I was playing the other day and got the sniper rifle in the map, then the other team started just yelling and 3 of them left, then a teammate betrayed me only for the weapon. Aside from making this situations a common thing, it’s also way too hard to use and gives an unbalanced advantage to the team who has it. My suggestion is to let know 343 that we don’t want this weapon in the games anymore and maybe with some luck get an update to remove it from the existing games.

A lot of people actually like the sniper and it has been a staple of the franchise for years, there is no reason for it to be removed because of it’s placement in a single map. Most maps that have snipers have one placed close to both teams spawns so that both teams have the opportunity to get the sniper, one team does not get an advantage over another. In the instance you were team killed for the weapon that can be applied to almost every power weapon not just the sniper.

Absolutely not. The sniper is iconic.

However - power weapon betrayal is one of the most annoying and obnoxious things that can happen in a game of Halo. What I’d like to see is a little bit smarter of a booting system - perhaps one that recognizes the timing of the betrayal as well as taking the weapons into consideration. If someone betrays someone in the first minute of the game and the person that gets killed has a power weapon, the option to boot should always come up IMO.

Its not the weapons fault how childish your teammates or enemies react. Trust me you will find better games than that eventually.

Why should a great weapon be removed due to other players’ behavior? Sniper’s always been a very useful tool on maps that is has been available. Having teams fight over it makes matches more interesting, since controlling power weapons has been a key to winning Arena matches.

“Yeah, that’s gonna be a no from me dawg” - Randy Jackson. I agree that people betraying you just to get a weapon is annoying but the power weapons balance the game. Control of the map and power weapons on the map is the whole point of the Halo multiplayer (in my opinion). It isn’t Call of Duty for a reason. I think you’ll find a hard time finding a sizable group wanting 343i to take away an iconic weapon of the series for upcoming, current, or past games. Not everyone is good with the sniper, and I’m one of those people, but I couldn’t imagine the games without it, it would feel…lacking. Like I said though, I really do feel your pain with people team killing to get a certain weapon. That has always been annoying, though it has been happening forever in the series by the annoying players since I’ve been playing the game and I played a ton of Halo 3 back in the Golden Years.

Ok I was just kidding but everyone answered 1000 times more maturely than I expected, so this thread is useless. If the rose emblem guy sees this, then plz do ur thing and lock this

It depends which game if you ask me.

In Halo CE and 3 the sniper was very well balanced. But in literally every other game the aim assist as been ridiculous, or the movement speeds too low. So maybe not removed. But it should be difficult enough to master that you can fight back against a mid-low level sniper regardless of skill. In CE and 3 it worked really well because to be good enough to get the most use out of it, you were at a level where in a match against yourself, you could probably fight back with a BR/Magnum. But in the other games it just kind of trumps the utility weapons, even on an even playing ground. So you either have to fight an uphill battle to outplay, or work with your team to take out a single player with a Sniper in an equal-skill scenario.

As for betrayals. I wouldn’t have an issue with a mechanic where you can’t collect weapons from a teammate if you were the player that killed them. It might lead to some accidents here and there that loses your team a power weapon. And some players might still kill you just so you can’t have it. But I think you’d see a lot less of it overall.

Don’t make threads for this purpose in the future.
