It just needs to be buffed that’s all. It lost emp. Let’s not cripple it further by removing semi auto.
You just agreed that the PP’s semi auto is bad, If it doesn’t perform it’s designated job at killing shields then why keep the firing mode in the game?
You don’t want to nerf the AR ( or other kinetic weapons ) so why have a gimmick gun that is mostly useless?
Because it doesn’t have to be useless? It’s close range pistol that’s not doing its job. The sidekick and the pp are supposed to mirror each other.
Sidekick is supposed to be good at kinetic while the pp is supposed to be good at shields.
The Halo Glock is fine where it is.
Yet the PP is bad at killing shields outside of it’s gimmick.
Hence the need for a buff.
The crappy Ruger P90 in .45 always felt like the halo magnum to me. It has a satisfying HaloCE chunk to it.
Leave as it. The side kick is pretty effective for sure, but it is also unforgiving with the small capacity and bloom. It adds a bit of a high risk high reward counter to the AR in the close-to mid range areas in that it has a faster TTK however you can’t be missing shots and it can still be out played by the BR or commando at the mid-long ranges.
Bro, there is no authority or rule saying anything about primary weapons, but you’re arguing MY opinion, and IN MY OPINION a pistol should not be considered a top tool of destruction, period. Sorry that I don’t think like you.
But I think the Sidekick should only be slightly better than the Plasma Pistol, instead the Plasma Pistol is left on the wall most of the time… where is the Energy + Kinetic team work there? Here’s a simple fix I stated already… make the Sidekick less effective against Shields… All will then be fair among the two Pistols. One pistol can drain a shield in one charged shot that locks on, and the other pistol can pop Unshielded players in one headshot with good aim…
From here, 343 will need to make some tweaks to the Pulse Carbine and the Commando so these weapons can start getting some more spotlight instead of a pistol like it was in Halo 5.
Edit: The Plasma Pistol needs some sort of EMP effects for vehicles again.
And I have explained how if you nerf the Sidekick it will become useless, the AR outcompetes it on average anyway and making the Sidekick worse at shields without looking at the AR will make the weapon completely useless.
An Assault Rifle is always suppose to be better than a pistol… It seems you want the weaker H5 AR back?
The Sidekick fires very quickly and kills in 6 body shots +1 headshot, you can kill an enemy in a little over a second(1.1s) with good accuracy or 10 all body shots and take 1.4 seconds…
Then, after looking at the AR speeds, AR kills in nearly the same amount of time 1.1 seconds if you land 12 shots on the shield and then 2 headshots lol It kills in 1.4 seconds if you shoot all body. So you’re argument is null and void about the AR being more powerful than the Sidekick, AR is just more reliable because Pistol requires accuracy and the AR doesn’t.
And you have got to stop comparing every weapon to the AR, we get it, you don’t like the AR, that doesn’t mean we all have to put the pistol on a pedestal too.
That has never been the case in any Halo game except 4 ( debatably ) and Infinite. I am not putting the sidekick on a pedestal, I am simply outlining why a nerf would be stupid. Nerfing the sidekick would make the AR the only weapon used in social as it’s braindead playstyle and power would simply outclass a weaker sidekick that already struggles to remain relevant thanks to bloom.
The human pistol in the entire Halo franchise(besides H4 and ODST) has a trend of somehow performing and in most cases, out-performing primary weapons such as rifles, machine guns and especially every other pistol in the games. This isn’t done for fun or some random flaw in their design, this is purely because players keep asking for a Golden Eye type Golden Pistol in every Halo game. In my opinion, this is redundant and doesn’t even make sense, and the fact that they dumb down other weapons or ramp up the Sidekick’s stats just to make it feel relevant is making the other weapons like Pulse Carbine/Commando/Plasma Pistol to get left behind in favor of a magical 10mm human pistol that can slay faster than a BR at mid-range.
And 343 has nerfed the AR according to this video from Youtube I just found.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCQ3W2_Eps8
Now the optimal TTKs for BR, AR and Sidekick are as follows: Sidekick has the fastest TTK with 1.10 seconds, AR has the middle ground TTK of 1.25 seconds, BR has the slowest TTK of 1.55 seconds
Once again, your argument about the Sidekick being weak compared to the AR or any standard weapon for that matter is voided and irrelevant.
As a matter of fact, these new TTK stats actually say that the Sidekick should be nerfed… hmmm
The H2,3 and Reach magnums do not outperform the BR and DMR lmao. try again.
The sidekick’s TTK is irrelevant thanks to bloom and lack of range, if the weapon had no bloom you would have an argument but instead it’s left up to RNG to decide whether the weapon wins out in a gunfight. TTK isn’t everything and using it and it alone to balance weapons is profoundly stupid.
The truth about the pistol bloom is you might not be being accurate enough because plenty of people are using the pistol just fine. Slow down your shots a tad bit and let the reticle reset more.
And obviously you don’t use TTK as the sole factor to balance weapons lol, I used that stat specifically because if you are accurate and have no desync, you WILL kill at that speed with that weapon.
It shouldn’t get nerfed or buffed. It should get FIXED! The firerate is too high for people using a regular controller to compete with mouseclicks and triggerstops.
The Sidekick right now fires 360 rpm and the halo 5 magnum fires 150 rpm. Maybe an adjusted Sidekick should sit in the middle with roughly 250 rpm and become a 6-shot kill instead of a 7-shot kill like it is now.
I do feel like it fires a bit too fast but I wouldn’t be able to say “yea, that rpm sounds right” maybe a small decrease at like 300 or 325… idk either way.
I remember 343i in an interview said that they called it the sidekick cause it wasn’t intended for it to be a primary weapon but with that in mind playing the game it feels like the superior weapon in the starting loadout.
Yes, 343 can say they want this weapon to be a cleanup weapon all they want. But if the design of the weapon can make it function as a primary weapon on inputdevices mouse and triggerstops and function as an unbalanced horrible cleanup weapon on a regular controller, they didn’t design this weapon very well.
You can’t really decrease the weapon to 300 or 325 rpm and keep the time to kill the same.
Halo 5 magnum fired 150 RPM and was a 5 shot kill.
Sidekick fires 360 rpm and is a 7 shot kill.
So to keep the time to kill roughly the same at 1.1 seconds you should make the weapon fire roughly 255 rpm to make it a 6 shot kill.
If you keep it a 7 shot kill and reduce the rate of fire to 325 or 300 rpm you are nerfing the weapon because you increase the time to kill: it fires slower, but you still need 7 bullets for a kill. If you make it a 6 shot kill, but only reduce the rate of fire to 325 or 300 rpm, you give this weapon HUGE buff. And it doesn’t need that.
So I would pick 6 shot kill sidekick and a firerate of roughly 250 RPM.
I think that way people using a regular controller have a better chance against mouseclicks and triggerstops.
By proxy that would also reduce the impact of bloom at max firerate, is that something you would prefer?
Absolutely! Bloom shouldn’t be on any weapon. Being accurate and then the game decides you missed your shot because of RNG/bloom is pretty much the worst mechanic any FPS game can have.
It needs a buff n a nerf the gun is incredibly inconsistent and also OP at times it needs to be looked at and complete over hauled it is a mess…
