This says more about the player than it does the weapon honestly.
If every player was running around with the sidekick out dispatching Spartans left and right you might have a point, but a decent player who paces their shots every now and again shows that it has more to do with skill than it does the weapon’s tuning.
I think it’s too spammy like the Halo 2 Magnum, and bloom when using a Controller doesn’t affect it negatively at all… In fact whenever I get the Sidekick challenges, I use controller and just delete people quite fast with it. It DOES lose to the AR point blank if the person can connect a melee after 7 rounds if you cannot land at least 4-5 and land a melee back (assuming melee registers for both of you)…
I think making it’s RoF more like the Halo CE Magnum, reducing bloom, along with making it a 5 Shot kill like in Halo 3 should keep it balanced while making it feel more consistent… On controller it’s still a beast, so even if they never change it, will still be a much better option to clean house.
I mean I play with a mouse and keyboard and its very satisfying using it. I like it. The second pistol in a series which is worth using in my opinion. First being the M6D
I’m thinking the opposite. I think the zoom should be better, less recoil and bloom, and rate of fire should be slower with higher damage to balance similar kill time (makes missing shots more costly), which is more of a buff I think.
Yes, the Sidekick can beat the AR but given the AR’s fire rate and being nowhere near as punishing if you miss a few shots compared to the Sidekick, it really is a case of having better skill and aim and you deserve to win. Even though I feel rather decent with the Sidekick, I still primarily use the AR in close quarters and use the Sidekick primarily as a sidearm to switch to either at ranges where I feel like I have a better chance with landing hits or when I need go get that last headshot in after draining their shields.
Even against some of the more skilled pistoleros, I still feel like I’m pretty even with them with my AR.
AR and Sidekick I feel are both in rather good places as starters but still weapons you’ll trade up for the better ones when they come up (Sidekick for the Battle Rifle, AR for Bulldog, for example).
Infinite needs BUFFS and lots of them. NO NERFS for pretty much any of the weapons. Buffs make the sandbox more diverse, Nerfs will reduce the vitality of the sandbox. NO THANK YOU! The Sidekick is fantastic, a slight buff honestly and it would be perfect if it killed slightly faster. Striker variant is fine as is, the best gun in the entire game.
Dont touch the sidekick. In my opinion its the best balanced weapon in Halo Infinite.
Please stop asking for a nerf on standard layout weapon. The sidekick is not a special weapon. You have it from the start in social, so learn to use it, if you think its a “power weapon”.
In ranked, the sidekick appears as pick up. But i dont pick it up in ranked, because i won almost every 1vs1 with BR versus sidekick
I’ve never been a fan of guns you can just spam like the side kick in any game. Pretty sure we have some people running macros or whatever increasing their rate of fire even further.
What you want to do is quickly empty your clip on their center of mass to maximize your hit probability, then when you have 1-2 bullets left pause for a brief moment to aim at their head as your bloom resets.
Sometimes I come across players that seem to have full automatic pistols with all shots tapping me in the head…feels like I’m getting drilled! I’m a decent player and I can’t replicate their accuracy or speed of shot on controller…reading this threads on aim assist on different platform these days makes me think this could be related as i barely get any aim assist on XSX and this feels exaggerated when using the Sidekick.
I have to disagree with you here. I think the AR and Sidekick as they are now, might be perfect starting load out. Of course going up against weapons that can be found on the map don’t always go my way, but with this load out I feel like I at least have a chance.
The change I’d like to see is with grenades, but that is a different topic.
that’s because the headshot hitbox is quite large… so you can genuinely just spam it on the head if you’re within a certain range and not miss a single shot…
