Yeah sure, it is a forerunner weapon that could have been in Halo 4, since there were Sentinels in the game.
I would love for it to come back as a far reaching ray like it was in Halo 3, do significantly higher damage up close compared to farther distances, but still deadly.
It should definitely return as some kind of weapon. I liked the Focus Rifle in reach, but since forerunner constructs are now more prominent enemies, the lack of Beam weapons is really odd. Seems like an obvious item in the forerunner sandbox.
I agree with the others in that it should not be a sidearm though.

Could always have scoped mode be less powerful, since multi-function does seem to be a part of the forerunner sandbox. Another option would be to have the damage be lowered past a certain distance, since the weapon lacks spread.
I think having a big honking beam weapon that’s the equivalent of the UNSC chain gun or covenant plasma cannon could be neat too. Have it fall off some kind of heavy promethean or sentinel.
I feel it should return as more of a power weapon role. In fact, I think all the Forerunner weapons should fit into a more power weapon role since Forerunner are still an incredibly advanced race compared to the humans and Covenant. I kinda feel all the loadout and redundant Forerunner weapons should be removed, and instead have unique Forerunner power weapons as map spawns in multiplayer.
It’s forerunner tech, that should be more advanced than the Covie’s and UNSC weaponry. It should hurt like hell, and obviously have a short battery power since it is removed from its main power source.
Why the heck nawt? Sentinels have appeared in all Forerunner Installations…so why not use their main weapon in combat?
The weapon itself is quite cool and can be used a low-tier semi-sniper rifle. Just add more maneuverability for it.
I want to see more varied and alien Forerunner weapons, so yeah totally! In general, I think all Forerunner weapons should act as semi power weapons (as in, the Forerunner version of the AR should be more like the saw, the Scattershot should be better than the shotgun, the Forerunner pistol should reign supreme above all other pistols…). It would make more sense canonically IMO and would be a cool mechanic in multiplayer where the Forerunner weapons would be a catch but not entirely power weapons. Just a higher class.
