So lots of time has passed and it seems that not many people have received the famous olive helmet despite the many people who have sent in map submissions in order to get it (including myself). It feels as if 343 only chooses its community favorites from certain forgers which I feel is somewhat unfair to the rest of the community.
So what if they make the olive helmet available to everyone else in the near future either through a new and improved system, which doesn’t rely on biased selection.
That seems fair to me and I think other people have wanted the same. Now of course I still feel people should work for it but it should be done in a way that works best for everyone much like achilles and other armor pieces.
I don’t really have any issue with them having a special reward for having the talent, dedication, and spending the time required to make a map that is of matchmaking quality. Yeah, it’s something myself (and a lot of us) will never be able to earn, but that doesn’t take away that they’ve earned that something extra. It was always going to be for a relatively small number of people (the best of the best maps submitted) and there are only so many opportunities that can go around.

I think they should do that actually. The armor has a stain on it that even the hundred of us that have earned it without bad behavior can’t get out and giving it to everyone would ease that.
I think giving out the Olive helmet to everyone else would be the second-coming of the Helioskrill issue. It would be a slap in the face for those who’ve earned it in the first place.
I just hope they don’t consider doing the same for Achilles. People will riot.

But still many people have dedicated tons of hours to making amazing maps for the community and yet are always ignored for their work in favor of select few. This has been a very large problem which is why I feel there should be another alternative to get it.
One way I would do it is perhaps have a challenge in which you must create a certain amount of maps from scratch from any of the main canvases or something similar.

Oh no Achilles should stay as it is. Because at least for that you get to work for it to unlock it rather than waiting by chance to get it.

Okay, business first. Please try to refrain from posting multiple times in a row in the future. You can edit your posts to add more information and respond to more than one person in a single post.
Now for the content…so? Yeah. I’m never going to get the helmet for having a map in matchmaking; I’d be hard pressed to ever get the fire skin. Yes people who in time and effort into maps that were submitted for matchmaking and didn’t make the cut put in some effort. Yes, I’m personally happy that someone put in that time and effort (and more than happy to use them in my customs nights,) Those maps didn’t make the cut though. For one reason or another (whether it was aesthetics, game play, originality, failure to follow instructions, etc.) weren’t good enough to make that transition. It’s a reward for those who made the best work of functional art, not for those that worked the hardest.

And as for Helioskrull it was only given to everyone because MCC is a broken game and some people who had completed the challenge never got the armor. Plus after its poor launch no one wanted to buy MCC for the sake of unlocking several armors, which is what lead to all of them being available but as hard to get legendary items.

I can totally understand that; having a flawed system can make things frustrating for many, so giving out the set to everyone else would’ve been a last resort if they couldn’t fix the issue in the first place. A controversial choice, but a necessary one if I have to admit.

But again it only seems to be elect individuals. I haven’t seen anyone outside of the usual forge favorites have their maps even given a glance. That is why I feel it is biased and is in need of new challenge.

So they only give the helmet designed to be given to the people good enough to get a map into matchmaking and then when they only give it to the people good enough to get into matchmaking that is a problem? I get where you’re coming from. It’s hard to be rejected, particularly when you’ve put a lot of work into something but I don’t agree that they should take something away that. This was designed for the best of the best, not for everyone. Hopefully there will be another contest or three for map submissions. If not there are the submission threads in community creations.

And then that is the other issue. The submission system itself isn’t that well set up either. People who submit their maps through community creations are mostly ignore or their posts are buried deep within the other things posted there till it never sees the light of day. There should be maybe a specific site or area that map submissions go only and can remain unaffected and visible.
I really hope they don’t It’s one of the few helmets in Halo 5 that can be earned and I think we need to be showing our support of that rather then asking for them in special packs. I absolutely hate that the vast majority of armor sets in Halo 5 are unlocked through the req pack. There’s no hardwork or dedication associated with any of them they’re all just another helmet that you got in a gold pack.

Achilles and Timmy allowed us to show our support and they gave challenges that take time to complete but are are actually doable because of a well made system. Getting Olive is not based on completing something within the system but is based on the decision of a man/woman in the forge team office. And I am sorry to say that only a select few always have their maps selected as community favorites resulting in a biased system. That is why I am suggesting that a new system should be put in place that isn’t based on the decision of one person.
IMO, a prize should be exclusive to those that accomplish a certain task to get it, just like the emblems. You complete whatever commendation, you earned the emblem. It shouldn’t be offered in a gold pack that can be obtained by regular game play.

Some of those maps/game modes have been placed into matchmaking. There is a reason my customs group played snowball fight long before it made it’s way into action sack. Again, most submissions are going to be rejected. Most aren’t going to make the cut. Only the best of those maps submitted are going to make it. That doesn’t mean that those that didn’t get it were bad, just not the best available. As for visibility; if all you’re looking for is the helmet than all the visibility you need is to submit the map in one of those dedicated threads and have it reviewed by 343 when they are looking to do a reshuffle.
You aren’t really making an argument as to why you think more people should have the helmet other than that they want it.

That is what I mean. It should be a task that is doable but not easy.

This was done as part of the transition of Halo from Bungie to 343i, because Recon had to be unlocked through the Bungie website, so if they didn’t unlock it for everyone it would literally have become impossible for new players to get it after the transition.

Your uses of “are” and “aren’t” are swapped in some places, I think.

Yes that is true and the same could happen here if lets say maps are not being accepted anymore or that community playlist for some reason is taken away.

Thanks. I’ll edit.

Keep it exclusive for the ones who deserve it by creating an map that got featured in matchmaking.
