In the beginning I was absolutely irritated by the shorter radar range. Yet, as I played more and more matches with the less effective radar, I realized it actually trains you in a way. It’s made me a better Halo player, by forcing me to observe my surroundings regularly. What do you guys think?
No. It should go back to 30 meters. Right now it is useless.
It can stay at 18. I like having something other than the radar to stare at all the time.
Radar should stay at 18m. All it does is promote campy, boring gameplay. Not a good alternative to the rather “chaotic” gameplay we have right now.

If anything I have seen more camping from it.
Here is a thread as to why the current radar does not accompany the gameplay mechanics.
25m would be a perfect compromise IMO.
I’m used to it always being 25m if i’m correct. BTB 25m radar works exactly like all the other Halo radars have and i do just fine. it doesnt make me any more map aware than normal, it just hides people 10ft in front of me or behind me.

There will always be camping - all an increased radar will do is make it more viable. Your thread proposes a duct tape solution that will only introduce more problems. We should be accusing the actual gameplay mechanics since they are the source of the issue, not radar. In matches of equally skilled teams, the radar will be abused, and will produce that “cat and mouse” gameplay that nobody likes. It doesn’t help either that it’s way too easy to escape in this game thanks to thruster and sprint. I admit I am flanked by enemies often, but I’d rather try to improve my map awareness instead of rely on a gameplay crutch.
With the much faster game play and movement it really should be 30m. It was dumb to change it.

Wait, are you saying the current radar promotes camping?

I noticed on that thread that someone mentioned inconsistencies with the radar. Have you noticed any of these?

The current one does to an extent. An increased radar will just promote it even further. I worded that post a bit weird, my bad.
> I noticed on that thread that someone mentioned inconsistencies with the radar. Have you noticed any of these?
I haven’t. Then again, I barely stare at it since it’s pretty much useless in most situations (which is a good thing).

-Yoink- no thats all im saying if you cant see my reasoning then dont bother
18m?
Thought it was always 25.
Even 25m is too small, if people can move this fast.
Maybe not range, but it’s functionality needs some improvement.
Maybe lights at the edge or some kind of sprint detection.

All previous games seemed to be fine with the 25m radar. Everyone seemed to love the 30m radar in the Beta. As it stands right now, radar is barely viable, and even less so when playing solo. Those increasing the radar usually say that one should have better awareness, but that advice is really only executable when playing with a team. Playing solo and no mics with randoms is not going to give a team good chemistry and map control.
Not everyone wants to play every match as if it were a Gamebattles or an MLG one.
I agree with what they were trying to do I just think they took it too far.
I think all it needs is 2 more meters radius. That would give it about 20% more total area of coverage and it would be perfect.
i may have complained about it at first but i have adapted as well
however i still camp corners and have a staring contest with the radar on objective game types lol

How much radar affects gameplay is entirely dependent on the skill level of said gameplay, and it has always ruined mid-high level matches because good players can abuse it. It discourages offensive movement and flanking, and limits the players’ choices. I completely understand that going in solo is frustrating. The abilities and map design make it hard to predict map flow like you could in previous games. That doesn’t mean we should add a crutch mechanic and ruin the gameplay at other levels of play. I’d be all for it if there were some kind of social slayer playlist, but unfortunately everything is ranked because . . . reasons.

because…343 wants arena to be hyper competitive to cater to the MLG and the tournaments which is really dumb they’ve made it so casual players hate arena well ayleast I do most of the time. There I finished your sentence

If 343 was only catering to hardcore competitive players then Arena would be BR/pistol starts with no radar at all.
Come back with a better argument please.
