Should the Kraken return?

Lore wise, it wouldn’t make sense since the Kraken was a modified mining machine outfitted to become a moving fortress by Jul’Mdama’s Covenant.

Gameplay wise, Halo 5 made the combat confined and a lot of dodge and weave without creative executions to take the vehicle down. But Halo Infinite opens up a lot of opportunities with open combat while a chance to revamp the Kraken’s combat capability to make it more enjoyable.

I just think the vehicle deserves a second chance to be another power unit. Especially the idea of a moving fortress on a Halo ring.

Don’t think so, Banished wouldn’t use it, and it was barely used by covenant remnants.

IF anything we might see a few banished vehicles from halo wars 2. But don’t think the kraken should ever come back.

Honestly I thought the Kraken was a bit of a gimmick. It was cool to see the first time around but the gameplay aspect to take it down was pretty easy and it just felt very meh as a combat encounter.
Even from a story aspect the Kraken just showed up for 5 minutes and then we blew it up.

If it were to come back I think the idea behind it would really need to be revamped significantly. Make it more interesting to fight, have it actually be a menacing megastructure.
I feel like a Scarab would honestly be a better choice for a returning enemy mega-vehicle, certainly has a much better legacy in past games.

It could, but I’d rather have Scarabs

Never really did like the Kraken, it never really seemed like a challenge or something I should be concerned about. The Scarab Tank on the other hand… well… we all know what Sgt. Johnson says.

Yes. Its no different to the H2 scarab, bring it back let it be an AI unit and utilise the more open vertical gameplay. Scarabs are child’s play with a grapple shot.

@Modod
I’ve never thought about fighting a Scarab with the grappeshot, you make a good point there about it would be “child’s play.”

That is actually a good point. Now I doubt we will see vehicle scale battles with how easily the grapple is accessible to them. I don’t see how the Scarab can come back without them scripting its armor to be ungraspable… but then there are other terrains.

It depends on the design. I like the idea of it but I didn’t like the way it was designed in Halo 5 so I would hope they would redesign it a bit to look more interesting.

Nah, to me the thing was a gimmick, easy to take down if you don’t play around, and wasn’t fun. It did not wow me.

I’d prefer to see the giant Banished Scarab make an appearance.

A mining vehicle reconditioned to be a military vehicle is destined to be a failure or a resounding success, in the case of the Kraken it was the first option. Surely it would be a desperate attempt to have some military weaponry that, as we have all seen, ended really badly.

I doubt we will see it again, it would not be a good idea.

The banished could have many applications for it on the ring. I fail to see any logic to your statement.
