With multiplayer being free, should the campaign be $60?
Is this the right amount for a campaign or is this too much?
I think it should yes, it’s a triple A title. Most games launch at $60, even the real hatchet jobs. After that they will drop based on sales performance. The undeserving ones fall fast and hard.
I think between the campaign being a triple A title and the game being open world and constantly being expanded upon down the road I feel that $60 is a fair amount for the game and it should be warranted. However, what I am curious to see is how much more in-depth they put into the campaign. I hope it isn’t like other games and just forgotten and the multiplayer ends up being the only focus.
Yes, the devs put work into the game. $60 is a fair price compared to investment from Microsoft and the work from the devs.
as i have said before in threads like this, It depends.
take halo 3 right, campaign only takes about 8 hours if you are taking your time and soaking in the details. but multiplayer? i have thousands of hours in halo 3’s multiplayer since launch. that makes the money i paid more then worth.
But now say halo infinite campaign is 20 hours, i doubt it will be but benefit of the doubt, let says it is. well now those possible thousands of hours of multiplayer i might spend in multiplayer dont matter as im not paying for it. so ONLY the 20 hours matters,
now for $20 i spent over 40 hours in one yakuza 0 playthrough
for $60 i have over 80 hours in one xcom 2 playthrough
but for $60 i might get 20 hours out of infinite?
It just does not add up, unless we get a lot of stuff with it. like a pass or two to even it out.
game-pass makes no sense for this argument unless you are arguing the game is only worth $10 then at that point why is it $60. as this post argument is about cost to game time NOT cost per month.
I say the campaign being 60 dollars is worth it if any of us can keep coming back to it.
If we’re able to constantly sink hours into the campaign, whether it’s to replay it for higher difficult completion, collectibles, secret/Easter egg hunting, or replaying it with different groups of friends?
That’s where I will be satisfied, personally. To each their own though!

Agreed. Assuming the campaign is good, I know I’ll be playing the crap out of it. But if it’s like 5’s I MAY play it 2-3 times for achievements, but that’s it. So far it seems to be good as well as ambitious and I’m excited to play it, but Halo’s always shipped with MP and Campaign for 1 price. 343 has a lot of room for updates and maybe new mission AWAY from Zeta Halo, but that’s just wishful thinking.
It matters little to me. I’m the kind of guy to wait a few months or so before buying anything to know completely if it’s a bad experience or not. I’ll know its worth in due time.

It’s not enough
I guess it comes down to ‘what’s in the box’ essentially.
We don’t yet know how long the campaign is, or how in-depth it is with regards to its open world.
On one end of the scale, we could end up with 4-5 hours of main campaign, with another couple of hours worth of optional filler side content.
On the other end, we could get a 15-20 hour behemoth of direct story missions, with optional content that isn’t repetitive and grindy.
There also other modes and content that could come with the campaign, and MP unlocks through things like campaign commendations and achievements.
I doubt we’ll really know campaign side of the game is worth until we get to play it.
Well I Have we played it so we don’t know how good it is
But I hope it is Good enough to be worth the $100
I’ve said this a few times, but I just don’t think we know enough yet to say one way or another. If it comes out and is quite a bit beefier than past campaigns sure, but if it’s on par with previous campaigns than $60 might not be worth it. As of now, we just have to wait for more info.
