A simple poll really.
We all know that the Halo novels are, well, numerous. And a couple short stories from Halo Evolutions received a special treatment of sorts.
Headhunters
Midnight Aboard The Heart Of Midlothian
The Return
The Mona Lisa
Those four stories had been made into motion comics that were available for free on the Halo Waypoint website.
Wouldn’t it be cool if 343 was able to expand on this story-telling potential and release animated motion-comics of the rest of the Halo franchise?
Imagine having Halo: Contact Harvest being made into a motion comic, where for the more dynamic combat scenes we have some cell-shaded CGI mixed in when needed?
Production would be low cost and we could have a collection of “Seasons” wherein a studio has animated a book.
Imagine it.
A studio is comissioned to make the entire original trilogy of Halo novels into motion comics, each episode being a chapter from the books.
Season 1 is The Fall of Reach
Season 2 is The Flood
Season 3 is First Strike.
This trilogy of Seasons would be known as “Halo: The Turning Point” as it marks the point in which the Human-Covenant War starts becoming victory after victory.
Then another stuidio makes “Halo: Onyx Saga” which would consist of -
Season 1 being Ghosts of Onyx
Season 2 being Glasslands
Season 3 being The Thursday War
Season 4 being Mortal Dictata
Season 5 being Legacy of Onyx
That is the basic gist of my idea so to speak.
Commission a few studios to make motion-comic animations of the Halo franchise’s stories and then publish them to the Halo fans.
So, now here is the poll -
- Yes. Animate the written works.
- No. Just buy the books.
Only caviate I can think of; have the guys who did the previous ones do these instead of getting new guys. The original ones have proven they know how to stick to the material.
We just want the book as it is animated, not adapted.
The books should have some picture to illustrate the story, but not to much
I don’t see why not!
It was great seeing The Fall of Reach turned into a movie, though I wish it were the whole book. It would be cool to see Shadows of Reach get the same treatment or turned into a motion comic.

I’d rather they get turned into a TV series
Honestly it always feels like waated resources to me when we can have new stories.
Ive read my favs many times and have listened to the audio books, most of which are very well voiced.
So to spend resources on this rather than new projects doesnt appeal to me much.
Especially when something like legends could be funded instead.
The real hope being a feature length cg blur project but obviously far beyond to scope implied here.
Paramount has TV rights to Halo.
And look what happened.
If they tried to adapt the books, Master Cheeks will just start a relationship with Kelly and share a kiss while blowing up a Covenant Carrier in the background.
They dont Rambo.
They have distribution rights.
Paramount arent even the primary production house far as im aware.
Showtime is still the main squeeze
Hence the cheeks I suppose.
And I believe anblim is involved.
So adaptation of any prior released narratives can easily be done seperate from the paramount showrunners.
That said we say what 343i did with the fall of reach film so honestly id be hapkier to see them opt for original storytelling in the mainline continuity.
Give me a high quality alpha nine animated series post bad blood!
Eh, I’d rather the resources be put into creating new stories, rather than rehashing already released ones.

More motion comic adaptations like the Return would be cool. The Return was a great story, the visuals of the motion comics really showed the violence and brutality of the continuing genocide between the Elites and Brutes.
Also on another note, just to clarify your theory about the Banished hating humans to get revenge for Doisac. Revenge does not work as a motive for a mutli-species faction founded upon “Vengeance is petty. Vengeance has no reward” when the Elites did genocide to Atriox’s crew. Evidently, Atriox does not hold all of humanity responsible for Cortana, as there are still Banished humans on New Mombasa and ones on Zeta Halo like the human inspector from Rubicon Protocol.
