If you played Halo 3, you might remember that the Heroic Map Pack was made free after a few months after release due to it’s unpopularity. I looked at the Crimson DLC playlist and it currently has 137 players in it. Many people agree that the map pack was a failure and not a lot of people bought it after the negative feedback on the forums. Do you think it should be made a free download?
Maybe in 6 months, but not yet. Nobody would ever buy a map pack ever again if they did. Corporate suicide.
It does suck how barely anyone plays it, because the maps are pretty good. But if they make it free so soon after it was released, people will just expect the same to be done with the next 2 map packs, and they wont buy them either.
Yeah they need to think about making it free after 6 months - its actually hurting the people that paid for it by not doing so since the population is so small - either that or give people that paid a refund.
343/-Yoink!- really need to do something big PR to try and get this game moving properly after they fix the issues - port and polish all the best classic maps and make it free with lots of coverage on the dashboard and get people back into the game.
Free maps are always nice. (Map pass holders might not take kindly though.)

Made free? Not so soon. Maybe when it’s close to Halo 5 coming out. But it’s only been out for what a little over a month now?
However, I DO believe the Crimson Map playlist needs to be retired to make room for more popular playlists…
Downloadable content cannot be made free when it had achievements associated with it. Microsoft’s rule sadly.
Microsoft policy - DLC can never be free if there area achievements attached.
Part of the reason many people left early is because of how gametype selection is set up. You automatically have each of the three maps to choose from, and each one will have a gametype paired with it. Thing is, say you’ve been playing on Shatter, next round of voting it could be the only map with a gametype you want to play. It got repetitive really quickly. They need to fix the matching up of DLC owners.

Down the line, I would love to see it discounted. This was a downfall of Halo: Reach. DLC needs to be discounted to keep people buying it, to keep people playing it. If your map packs stay at $10 forever, nobody is going to want to buy it a year down the road. Or at least, they’ll think, “If I’m going to invest $10, I better post in the forums and make sure people still play these maps.” They usually find the maps are hardly ever in rotation, and so don’t purchase. The maps should be discounted eventually.

Yes it should be, but not now. This playlist is a shame. Not even 200 players was in DLC when i entered halo 4 ( 1 pm UK time ).
Actually no it’s not, at least not a failure to me, I enjoyed the dlc and always prefer to play it due to simple reason no power weapons ordinance drops.

That’s a rude way of putting it but it is true. You spend, you get. If it was free for everybody at the start, I wouldn’t complain, but otherwise no, you are pretty silly.

No. I have still only recieved one map pack at the moment even though I’ve bought the Map Pass. There’s no way they’d release it for free at least until all of the first three map packs have been released for a while. Majestic is later this month and Castle some time in May.
Even if it was free, I don’t even know if I would download it. The maps are pretty crappy from what I’ve seen and Halo 4 DLC has to compete with ME2 and ME3 DLC on my hard drive. I’ll probably delete episodes 6-10 when the season is out to make some room, so I could potentially have room, but if Majestic is any good then that’ll end up taking the newly freed up space.
