Should the Commando Rifle replace the AR as the default spawn loadout?

Because 343 has a habit of hiring staff members that worked on other games that had assault rifles fill the role of the ARs in Call of Duty, where if you ADS, you can cross map someone with a bullet or two. So ADSing with the Halo AR does something similar.

To be fair, it’s A-okay for Infinite’s AR to spit far, considering now it’s our bread and butter staple. The issue here is the fact it can headshot. It lowers the AR’s ttk by a huge margin compared to previous Halos.

As much as I like the intuitive change to remove BR dominance by putting a strong AR in the hands of the player, the headshotting on it seriously makes it no better than Reach era DMR spam fests, except now you hold the trigger down and pray.

It’s literally the complete opposite, CE’s AR especially is potent since the Mag gets harder to use at those closer ranges.

Slap+shoot combo begs to differ.

IDK if full out going to VK starts is the right option, but I wouldn’t mind a “Quick Play Commandos” playlist that just replaces the AR with the VK, and place the AR on VK spawn racks. At least to test out the idea. Maybe we have “Commando Weekends” or something.

Easy fix for the Commando Rifle…

  1. Give it switchable single shot and full auto modes (as per certain ARs in COD).
  2. Increase damage per bullet.
  3. Increase recoil for full auto mode.
  4. Decrease bloom for both modes.

This would give the weapon versatility with improved accuracy and an emphasis on skill whilst making it a viable weapon to use.

A melee without lunge and a projectile weapon with low magnetism…the CE AR is very potent on arena maps.

I’m not saying that the AR was bad in Halo CE.
But out of the two starter weapons of the Assault Rifle and the Uber-Magnum, most players that understood the sandbox kept the magnum and traded the AR for a new weapon.

The magnum wasn’t uber and the AR was perfect, Easy to use and straightforward. It just so happens that other weapons provided more skillful utility or more power ( like the PR or power weapons ).

The game is free to play. That’s going to skew all public achievement data. It has to be compared to other medals directly for it to be meaningful.

It shouldn’t become the default but there should be Commando start gametypes. If only so people actually learn how to use it and stop telling people to tap fire.
