Should the AR be nerfed?

Should 343i nerf the AR? We saw in the weapon tuning playlist the TU AR and I don’t think the change was needed. Curious to know what others think.

I’m not so sure it’s a “nerf” that it needs but rather a “fix.”

Some people think it’s fine because they don’t realise just how abusable the bloom mechanic is.
It’s intended to be “short bursts” but if you just rapidly tap the button, it can give you perfect accuracy without slowing down the fire rate.

If you get the timing right (there’s a rhythm to it), it can even shoot faster than normal, even though 343 claims they fixed the rapid fire glitch – but they just toned it down and made it less consistent, they didn’t completely remove it. Occasionally you’ll still see topics showing up like, “rapid fire hack?” with a clip linked.

And it should be no surprise that there’s such ranged opinions on this because you either play against people who mastered it every game (high ranks) and realise that it’s completely, 100% unreasonably broken, or you play at lower ranks and never see it abused that way & end up thinking that it’s fine.
That’s why you see people reply to these “rapid fire” posts like, “oh it’s probably just lag,” they simply don’t realise how common it is at higher levels.

So honestly, I’d consider it to be more of a glitch than a balancing issue.
The tuning playlist didn’t really address this issue (or even acknowledge that an issue exists), they just made it more difficult for noobs to use but didn’t change much for the people who abuse it.
The fact that 343 didn’t even mention this really makes me question if they understand their own game at all.
In fact, they went 1 step further on the recent live stream by saying that the problem is the concept of burst fire all together.

It was fine the way it was IMO. It was finally actually useful in matchmaking.

They finally made it a viable option in gameplay again. I hope it stays the same.

This cant be overstated. Especially in modes like warzone and WA where you start with an AR

It was better in the beta. It should be like the beta, not nerfed.

It also looked better in the beta. Remember the bolt that moved? So lovely.

The further we get away from the beta the more I miss it.

Halo 5s beta was absolutely gorgeous

I personally think it was fine , when I think halo weapons it is always AR & a precision weapon in the back pocket, it has earned its inclusion in halo . It’s the smallest population margin of players that moan about it ( the top tier competitive players ) without it halo would not be inclusive to everyone and with a game that would be so hard to start to get into because of the high skill gap casual players will just put the game down and if the casual players never play it enjoy it get better then start playing competitively, where would the player base come from to get into competition in the first place ? The player base would be small , less people would buy the game , less money would be made and so less investment into the franchise there would be . It is impossible to please everyone a compromise is needed . I think it’s inclusion is correct . What we should talk about is the SMG, STORMRIFLE & BRUTE PLASMA these are power weapons especially the storm rifle with all the weapons that have been changed I think it’s laughable that the storm rifle hasn’t . That’s the weapon that should be nerfed or removed . At least the AR can be counted by the fact that everyone starts with one . As far as I’m concerned it’s fine .

Nope, we already have a SMG, we don’t need another one.
