Should Team Arena just be Slayer?

Why not?

Why is it. Or why would it be?

Isn’t “Slayer” just slayer.

I thought “Team Arena” was for all the objective games. Adding Slayer would be counter-productive?

I think so too.

Depends on the matchmaking options.
If we have a dedicated Team Objective, then Team Arena could be just Slayer. But then why wouldn’t you just call it Team Slayer?

Arena as a word encompasses both in a sense, referring to the place in which the fight takes place, rather than the type of fight. I guess it’s just a wording thing really.

Unless I’m missing the point, the OP is a little vague.

I think “Team arena” should be all the core game modes like CTF, Strongholds, and Slayer. Then there should be other game modes in the playlist of modes to play. The others can be their own modes like one specifically for CTF or Strongholds or Slayer. Have those in the Ranked Playlist and then other things like Social Slayer, Infection and Action sack in the Social Playlist

Yep, ‘Arena’ reads more like a playlist of core game modes.

I am someone who played a fair bit of Ranked Objective and I always felt the gametypes were a bit pants for high level play.

That being said I absolutely adore the Hardcore Objective gametypes that are offered which mix slayer and objective gametypes.

Preferably we would have a Team Slayer, Halo League playlist/HCS, Team Snipers, Team SWAT, Doubles and FFA.

These were the core playlists at the end of Halo 3’s lifespan and I think they capture the key gametypes the best.

I wouldn’t mind seeing breakout return from Halo 5. I loved that gametype.

For social games i quite like the style of MCC in which you just select the amount of players and gametypes you’d like to play. For ranked i second Ken’s approach, i think halo 5’s ranked playlists were great and also breakout was a really unique and fun addition.
I’d also like the “single”- and team- queue options to return, really felt more balanced when solo-queing objectives to not face 4 stacks with comms.

Not sure what is meant by this, but objective gametypes such as CTF, Oddball and Koth have been a staple in competitive halo since the very early days of competitive Halo, and work extremely well at the high level.

I’m hoping we can select what we want to play. A slayer only choice would suit me just fine.

I agree the social search function in MCC is great. I love BTB, but hate heavies so I can search all games and gametypes minus heavies. It’s good to be able to play exactly what you want and wait a bit longer if you need.

MCC has the partial team enabled in ranked like Halo 3 did and I think it’s mandatory for all ranked gametypes. I don’t think you should ever have to play a 4 man stack when searching solo. It’s completely unfair.

Some maps/gametypes for objective are a miserable experience at high level and just don’t work as intended.

I agree about the competitive objective gametypes although traditionally they have always worked best on the Hardcore/MLG playlists.

I suppose it just comes down to whether or not 343 can design well balanced, fun map and gametype variants. After all, MLG gametypes were just modified versions of default gametypes.
