I really liked the balance between grenades in Halo 3.
Frags were great for tactical combat, plasma grenades were great for single target use, spike grenades were awesome anti vehicle grenades/zoning tools and firebombs were great for anti personal.
To really make the storm Covenant feel rag tag 343i should of implemented all the old gear and give them to the Covies. Elites with Maulers and grunts throwing -Yoinks!- would of been a nice touch up. I always found it weird that this so called rag tag group of covies used newly issued storm rifles.
Moving on, I think spike grenades should make a return in halo because they allowed for grenades to be more balanced. Halo Reach gave us mini nukes and Halo 4’s plasma grenades felt oddly strong against…everything. While Pulse Grenades are great for zoning, adding the spike grenade back for anti-vehicle task would really pull power from the plasma grenades ability to count down the obliteration of anything they come in contact with. It might be the hardest grenade to land but that doesn’t mean it should be OP.
Those who have this fear that he spike grenades will just become the new H4 plasmas, I think making Spike Grenades only attach to vehicles and obstacles and not players or AI would really add a whole new level of play with them. Turning them from the better plasma grenade to it’s only thing. Being a trap/anti vehicle grenade would really make it fall into it’s own niche.
Obviously a major problem with grenades in Halo 4 was players ability to spawn with whatever they wanted, so here’s to hoping that 343i keeps that ability to the party leader in custom games.
I would add a poll but I feel like that takes away peoples reason to explain why they want something or if they don’t.
