So in a previous post, it was settled that Spartans can reproduce. But should they?
Pros: The need for kidnapping and volunteers will no longer be necessary. And no more having to spend money on getting the chemicals and equipment to make a Spartan. And you can influence (Brainwash) the children from conception. They would be useful from the beginning, and would never doubt the UNSC for a second.
Cons: Instead of the best of Humanity you have what you have, the offspring of previous Spartans. It may be harder for the Spartans to except failure and to make right or wrong decisions, since military will be their entire life. And its not even guaranteed that the child will survive. And if the do survive they could end up with more side effects than Spartan.
I’m not sure on my answer, because if yes the might not be a Mendez around to help them establish a conscience. But if no, then the UNSC could risk being caught stealing children and the media would eat them alive(I assume), they would lose support, and soldiers.
They’re genetically augmented, so Spartan babies might come out pretty weird. Also, Spartans have a supressed -Yoink!- drive and on top of that, they’re surrounded with mostly others of the same -Yoink!-/gender and focus a lot on training for war.
Spartans are too busy to worry about their children, so I don’t think it’s a good idea for them to reproduce.
What are you talking about? It’s never been revealed that Spartans can pass on their “augmentation power/abilities” to their children if they every do have any. I don’t understand why you’re saying that it wouldn’t take money for the equipment for the Spartans’ children. Humans are expensive to keep alive, they must be well fed, clothed, and sheltered. Soldiers are more expensive to produce.
Other than having really good genes. (to be experimented on.) They wouldn’t really be any different, Spartan Augments are largely surgical. I.E. wouldn’t be passed down.

This. The children wouldn’t have reinforced bones, which means they can’t wear Mjolnir armor.
> Also, Spartans have a supressed -Yoink!- drive.
No, they haven’t. The supressed -Yoink!- drive is just a risk of the augmentations, it’s not a guaranteed side effect. But yeah, like you said the Spartan’s lives pretty much revolve around fighting, so they’ve got better things to do and think about.
The only thing about Spartan babies is that they would be prime candidates for augmentations. That’s it.
They would still need to train for most of their lives, and they would either be given Spartan III or Spartan IV augments. Much safer than Spartan II augments.
I think Spartan III augments would be more likely because they required such a specific selection of individuals. It’s a wider gene pool than Spartan IIs, but not as wide as Spartan IVs.
Spartan IV augments can be used on basically anyone that’s fit.
I don’t know if they have the technology to create artificial wombs yet, but if they did then they wouldn’t actually need the spartans to give birth, just need the harvest eggs and choose the best genetic candidates. And on top of that, they maybe even able to begin to augment them prior to birth which could possibly give them a 100% success rate.
I think that’s one of the best approaches they could make. Training Spartans from birth is one of the best ways to assure loyalty and inefficiency.
> Spartan’s wouldn’t pass augmentations to their children, so there wouldn’t be any big payoff in that regard for ONI or military purposes.

Actually to some degree the augmentations are making changes on the Spartan’s genetic level, otherwise they would need to keep getting augmentations on a semi-regular basis due to the usual wear-and-tear on the body, if they weren’t genetic on some level then when the body repaired itself it would default to baseline human rather than still being augmented. Whether it’d actually be something that could or would be passed on or not I have no idea, but there is some genetic alteration from the augmentations.

I can imagine a lot of baby shaking looks at Emile
However, the ORION Candidates had all chemical augmentations that affected their genetic structure (EX: Sgt. Johnson being immune to the Flood), while the SPARTAN II’s procedures were mostly surgical in nature with only mild chemical augmentations, without them affecting their genetic structure.
“Chemical augmentations work on a molecular level by targeting molecules within the body and then altering them to begin a growth process of targeted tissues. Although the chemicals work on a molecular level, they do not work on a genetic level, as targeted mutagenesis is impossible only with chemicals.”
i dont think it would make much of a difference. the only problem is hoping that spartans can raise children as good/bad as unaugmented humans since most of their childhood was taken. i guess the only spartans who is most suited to reproduce are the spartan 4s because they had a childhood and had parents so they would most likely relate to the Job and they are quickly replacing the older spartans. but for the older ones theres nothing wrong. you havent changed the genetic coding, just added augmentations, they would only reproduce normal humans. even if they are genetically modified the newer genes are most likely be recessive so the augmented genes would be eliminated withtin a few generations if not one.
but if genetic alteration transmission is successful, these children sadly should either be recruited or killed(at least de-sexed) unfortunately. i know this idea is very hard to take in, but if there is a community of these people living in society this would cause massive unrest being that these kids are better at math/science, university courses and taking all the honour awards, replacing athletes and valedictorian award because they were augmented, and that wouldnt be fair to the tens of billions of humans. This would cause genocide, interstellar social unrest. im sorry but the its better to make decisions on behalf of many than a few. This is what Halsey did and although it was monstrous of her to do it, it had to be done to keep peace. The biggest extent to this was the ancient humans who sacrificed half of their population in the human flood war to keep peace
In the Halo Graphic Novel, the one with the amour testing, the spartan in that story, has left and started a family, its not stated if she is a II, or III but does say she has a Family.

Maria-062 is a Spartan II. Also, she “retired” with the intent to tart a family. It never says she actually had children.
