Should Spartans Have Callouts?

I think it would be interesting… you know, automated callouts like “frag out”. It wouldn’t affect gameplay, but would make it feel more realistic. If you agree, try to think of a cool callout that a Spartan could say.

You know, when I first viewed this I thought you meant shout-outs…

…No thanks by the way…I would find it a bit annoying. Like how I found it annoying in Black Ops when you would say “Throwing Frag!”.

No, I like how the helmets make the Spartans seem nameless, so you can add yourself to the game if you know what I mean. This is the same reason Chief hardly ever talks and never takes off his helmet.

Also, theres not many options for call outs. Other than “Throwing Frag!” what else can you have in Halo?

In Spartan Ops and custom games, it’d be cool. But not in MPMM, that’d alert people as to where you are, and especially if you’re sneaking up behind an enemy.

Too bad now he talk non stop in campaign.

If it isn’t on the scale of Gears of War, I don’t see it purpose.

Oh really? Hmmm…I haven’t notice this…Did I miss something?

That would be annoying as balls.

Nah I don’t want my character saying RELOADING!

You played the campaign? How was it?

I find that things like that would give away your position if one of those “callouts” were to come into effect at an inopportune time. Other than that, Halo shouldn’t have any sort of Realism. It’s Halo, not a modern day shooter.

With the amount of grenades people normally throw? My god, we’d be hearng “frag out!” every 0.2 seconds!

I wouldn’t mind if it was an occasional thing, but I can still see it getting annoying.
It would be kind of cool if it was something similar to how it was done in Reach’s, with a number of differnt voice options.

I think it could be kind of cool, if profanities are kept mostly out. I get enough over the headset, I don’t need any more coming out of the game itself lol.

A while back I saw a thread with a cool idea where you could purchase voices, much like Reach Firefight, but there would be a much wider range of people and things that they said. For example, someone could have the Arbiter’s voice, and he could say “Were it so easy” at really epic moments. Or Chief could run out of ammo (not reload, out of ammo completely) and say “I need a weapon” or something.

Also, please stop saying Halo is unrealistic. It’s incredibly realistic. The characters (at least in the books and things) are complicated and have realistic emotions, every object reacts realistically (or it did before Reach made Warthogs dune buggies and DMRs Spartan Lasers), most Human vehicles are theoretically possible (Falcon, Hornet, Pelican–they all have propulsion systems that make sense and would probably exist by the 2550s). Really, the only unrealistic things are the Alien technology (Forerunner and Covy stuff), but it Sci-Fi after all, and these are credited to alien technology that doesn’t make sense to humans. The trick is to make it react realistically. For example, a Phantom floats for no apparant reason, but if you destroy it it will fall to the ground in a believable fashion.

Cover me, I’m reloading.
My shields are down.
My shields are back up.
Calling in {insert ordinance here}

That’s all I can think of. Ehh seems like it would get annoying. I know it sure does in Battlefield.

I don’t want the enemy to know what I’m doing… like if I’m hiding and reloading… I don’t want my character to shout out “DERP RELOADING”… I think the whole RvB is bad enough. Well actually just the Red armor. You have got to be kidding me… no Spartan who wanted to survive would wear that kind of armor onto the field.

NoOO!! goddd, no god plz no! …NOooOOOOO!!!

Seriously, I have heard enough of that frap in COD. It gets annoying…I dont want to hear “GRENADAAAAA!!!”

No thanks. After a while it would become annoying. Plus, it would completely ruin a stealthy player’s play style.

Spartans don’t need to call out what they’re about to do. They just do.

I know many times in Ghost Recon FS that I was able to figure out where some was at because the game said “frag out” or “sensor out” and kill them. My answer is no.

No.
