Should Slayer pro be somewhere else? (where?)

There are enough posts about this that it may seem redundant, but after an awful night mixed with not only slayer pro, but slayer pro JIP (yeah, really kick me when I’m down) I just can’t not post.

The settings that Slayer pro currently has belong in team throwdown or an entirely separate playlist. Heck, the people that love pro? More power to ya, how about making it a stand alone playlist instead of forcing players who don’t want to back out and wait for another map selection process to play a gametype that they may/may not like? If you really need a new gamestyle to add to the Infinity slayer lists then make it classic slayer. Example:

Radar on
Shields on
Loadouts off
Start weapons: Assault Rifle and Magnum
Ordinance off
Grenade pickup on
Armor abilities off or map pick-up only

I’d play this just as much as I play the infinity style.

Here is what I generally see when slayer pro is added (in terms of map selection).

Settler Infinity slayer (please kill me)
Meltdown Slayer Pro (please kill me NOW)
Settler Slayer Pro (throws controller through wall and backs out)

More often than not 2/3 of the maps are slayer pro and I’ve even heard that sometimes 3/3 of the maps are. Why?

I gave in and didn’t back out of a slayer pro map last night, I think it was complex (I don’t exactly remember, but I will say nice job adding complex to big team, it’s actually really nice there!), and I can safely say that there are people who love slayer pro, great. Why should we be forced to either avoid maps or play slayer pro?

One change and this could all be fixed. Someone mentioned this earlier to I’m not taking credit for this; it is genius. GIVE SLAYER PRO A RADAR! Hey, no ordinance/custom loadouts/armor abilities? Great, just give me back my radar. Would you drive your car without mirrors? Could you? Yes. Is it safe? NO. Would you drive without turn signals? Could you? Yes. Is it safe? No.

Someone please take note of this and please just separate slayer pro and infinity slayer. I’m not even saying get rid of slayer pro, just put it somewhere else. To be very honest I’d LOVE playing the classic style slayer mentioned above…I just need my radar…

I’m fine with where it is I just refuse to play Settler Pro until the weapon tuning is live.

By splitting infinity slayer and slayer pro you are creating redundant playlist and removing unique playlist that many people enjoy to fit them. Putting slayer pro into any playlist other than the infinity slayer ones makes no sense because those are the one they have the most in common wither it be 4v4 or 8v8 slayer. Plenty of playlist carry multiple, just look at CTF that has both Infinity Flag or Regular Flag and Team snipers that has both Shotty Snipes and regular Snipes.

Since as it stands more people want to see Slayer pro left in the playlist it’s in, I’d like to hear from some of those people as to why it should stay there?

It’s obviously quite different from infinity slayer, and to be really honest I feel like the only thing leaving it there does is force unwilling/unwitting players to play it.

If there are players who just want to occasionally “mix it up” go and manually select a different playlist? It’s not hard.

If you’re playing slayer pro because it doesn’t have custom loadouts/ordinance then I would see maybe adding radar, but as it stands Slayer Pro is so different from infinity slayer that I don’t understand how they can possibly be in the same list unless 343 is actively trying to unnerve it’s remaining player base.

Having a slayer pro option in infinity slayer is bad enough, but the frequency with which I saw it last night was a nightmare. Not to mention slayer pro JIP…I’m not saying it’s the straw that broke the camel’s back, but the camel is really getting tired of the straws.

Note: people posted as I was typing this, thanks to those that responded with a reason.

This forum’s opinions have nothing to do with most players opinions. Yesterday few confused souls voted for Pro. Today I see that people started avoiding it. I know that things will change when self-thought pros will comeback from schools, but in the end Pro will lose it’s hype and die again. Too bad it’ll affect game’s most popular playlist.

Fair enough. Can we get a playlist with just regular team slayer? With motion tracker? Maybe with a mix of infinity slayer with custom loadouts and ordinance, and some variation of classic slayer? Where you spawn with AR/magnum, motion tracker, can pick up grenades, and have the weapons spawn the way they did in previous halo games?

Slayer pro is one of those things I don’t want to play unless I SELECT it. I really liked infinity slayer (and big team) in that I RARELY ever had to back out of map voting because I didn’t like the map or game-type. I miss that already (I backed out of more map votings than I did games last night; played 5 games and 2 of them were pro). I’m too dependent on my motion tracker to ever really enjoy a game without it…I spend the entire time thinking that there HAS to be someone behind me ready to assassinate me as soon as I scope in…then when I actually do scope in there IS someone back there breaking my neck. For me I can’t have fun playing like this…I end up getting like 7 kills 5 deaths which doesn’t really HURT my team…but I don’t contribute/have fun doing so.

How would the slayer pro people like it if they queued for slayer pro and got SWAT? That may be a slight exaggeration, but that’s what it feels like when 2/3 map choices in “Infinity” Slayer are pro and the other’s on Solace (or Meltdown/Settler for big team) [Those are basically the only maps I’m not fond of but would prefer them regular to Vortex or Complex/Adrift pro].

To me I really feel like this is being forced on those of us who like the generic “unaltered” slayer form of Halo. I don’t like CTF…so I don’t play CTF. I don’t like team snipers…so I don’t play team snipers (occasionally I’ll play with my buddies who do like it and then I’ll play it, and I tried to practice at it so I didn’t suck when I played with them but that just made me break open a gamecube controller in an attempt to save my Xbox controller…so I don’t do that anymore) and the same for SWAT. Not my cup of tea so I don’t play it.

It would be nice if the gametype wasn’t shoved down our gullets. 2 to 3/3 choices for Pro is too frequent. I would much prefer, since the playlist is called Infinity Slayer, Pro games to have a consistent and permanent 1/3 choice to play. At this point, people are essentially forced to choose it because they have to play a crappy map with Infinity Slayer and basically throw their hands in the air and begrudgingly select what Pro game there is.

If one really wants to play Pro, they will pick the 1/3 Pro option of their own accord. Jus’ saying.

That would be fine. Multiple game types will work in a playlist as long as there are not too many that the playlist becomes saturated.

The thing is all the gametypes in a playlist at their core are very similar. All Sniper gametypes revolve around the sniper, all CTF gametypes revolve around CTF and all slayer gametypes that are and will be in these new TS playlist revolve around Team slayer. By having the gametypes act similarly you avoid the drastic change between games.

Slayer pro is more like generic Halo than Infinity.

Again its not like they added extraction to infinity slayer. They added another 4v4 or 8v8 slayer gametype. You need to stop looking at those playlist as Infinity playlist and start looking at them as BTB slayer and Team slayer. Playlist where you will find multiple team slayer gametypes.

> Slayer pro is more like generic Halo than Infinity.

Two words. Motion tracker.

Give slayer pro motion tracker and I will pick it nearly as much as infinity slayer. I don’t mind not having my custom loadout, I don’t mind not having my armor ability, and I don’t mind not getting ordinances. I just want my motion tracker back.

For me there seem to be two options for change.

a) Keep it as it is for a while to build up pro population. If it reaches a number 343 are happy with then give it it’s own playlist.

b) Give a player option to “opt out” of pro, with a warning that this will greatly increase matchmaking time.

Agreed 100%. I don’t mind playing Pro. But I would like to do it at my own leisure. Sometimes I just want to play Infinity. But the 2 to 3/3 choices for Pro games kind of make that hard and as I said before, it feels forced.

This is what it feels like right now. This is very similar to team doubles which I avoid playing for exactly the same reason.

The people who have whined about not having Slayer Pro as they are “Halo vets” should want this game in the Team Throwdown" playlist or are they to chicken to go up against the real “pros” of the game & are happy just spawn killing noobs/casuals?
