OK I know this is crazy but should it? It’s like 90% Settler is one of the choices on the voting board, and is always chosen. If it would not be taken out at least let it be 20% less common. It’s like the Ragnarok problem before Settler was added to BTB. Do you guys agree?
No, despite the fact that I hate this map with a passion it’s obvious that it’s an absolute fan favorite among halo fans. So why remove a map that virtually everybody but a very small minority absolutely loves ?
I don’t think it’ll be removed, b/c of some fans love the map. I like and hate it at the same time, but i have a feeling once a new BTB map comes out, watch everyone “flock” to that one instead of Settler. However, that’s yet to be seen, IMO.

I know it’s not new, but I’d like to see them add Ascent to the rotation. It’s on the disk after all, and its a good map for the Erosion Forge World.
At least settler isn’t as terribad as Exile.
I like it… Random canyon in the middle of nowhere + Two bases + Warthogs + Reds and blues + Random cliff leading straight to nowhere = Halo
(To balance the map better though I think they should replace the railgun with a rocket launcher and replace the inceneration canon with a rail gun)
I like that map, I enjoy it more now that they changed the sniper to a railgun and the bridge to a tunnel. I would like to see more map pack maps come up though so it would be nice if it was less common
Replace the shotgun spawn with a sniper or rocket launcher and it would make it worth it to play on that side of the map.
I hate settler with a passion but since I hardly ever play H4 anymore I don’t care too much.
Have a BTB forge playtest and replace with just about anything. It is an awful map with the depth of a spoon. It would have been awful in any Halo game, personal ordnance just makes it worse(as do AAs).
The hill is just fundamentally flawed and unless it is blocked off completely or HEAVILY modified any map on Ravine that includes it will have issues. It is too powerful and too easy to defend. There is nothing ‘tactical’ about throwing your team into the meat grinder on either side of the hill.
Ragnarok has problems due to ordnance and Mantis, but it still works far better than Settler. Both have power positions at the hill, but the main fronts that form on Ragnarok are much much wider and you are given more tools to break the contain(Mantis, Banshee, Sniper, Warthog, Ghost) and all those tools can be applied across Ragnarok while the Warthog on Settler can TRY to bust through, in such narrow spaces more often than not you are cut to ribbons by power weapons, teamshot, PP/plasmas, grenades, boarding action.
Sure you CAN get lucky and retake the hill, but that is the problem with Settler, the winner is determined by a huge amount of luck there are few if any ‘plays’ that could be reliably enacted to break the hill.
Dominating this map, is all about controlling the Hill.
Control the Hill, control the map.
The Incinerator canon should spawn in a location closer to the cliff side, as who controls the hill controls both power weapons, because someone can just jump down to get the Incinerator.
Red team seems to have the advantage on this map, their spawn has more cover from the cliff face than what blue team does.

What a dumb question. Should one of the most popular maps be taken out? Yeah, that just makes all kinds of sense.
I said yes, but now that I think about it, it should just be a lot less common. I hate that map, but a lot of people seem to love it. The frequency should be reduced like Ragnarok was. It seems to come up every time I play BTB!

Perhaps, but it sure can be fun.

Taking the hill isn’t that hard if you have a decent team that works together. The disadvantage for people on the hill is that they’re bunched together in close proximity, which makes it easy to find and switch targets, as well as grenade them. I see the hill change hands a lot in games that are fairly evenly matched. In games where one team is clearly better than the other it’s far less common, but unbalanced matches aren’t fun on any map.

A better solution (not that I really see a problem here) would be to replace less popular maps with some people would vote for more often. If Settler is a lot more popular than Vortex, for example, the answer is not to remove Settler, but to replace Vortex with a map that could compete with Settler for votes.
I hate Settler. I think it is the worst map in the history of Halo (including Chiron). It’s basically a large box that allows you to see everyone on the entire map from anywhere in the entire map. No matter where you are, there are six people to shoot and six people shooting at you. How the heck did this map become popular?
Yes, but it won’t be sadly.
Toss it out. Map seems to emphasis all things that are wrong with BTB. 90% of the map is utterly useless, with the ridge being the only area that needs to be controlled.
Neither base has any type counter to ridge domination; first team to control that area has pretty much won the game. Hogs are a terrible, and since the only area of the map that matters is the one where they can’t operate effectively makes them pointless.
The whole map is essentially one cluster–Yoink- to control the ridge. Worse part is that there’s no freedom for strategy. Want to try to hold down the rest of the map with the hog. Nope, ridge has railgun and instant access to the Cannon. Want to sneak around the long way and ambush from behind. Nope, the rest of the map is as open as man getting his cavity searched, and there’s no way you’re getting out without being pinned by some hotshot on the ridge with a DMR.
The map lacks diversity, and as a result lacks any real entertainment. There is nothing fun about throwing yourself at the ridge like some kind of mindless drone, but unfortunately it’s the only strategy, and one that is consistently effective.
It’s a below-average Halo map. But, it’s certainly an above average BTB map in Halo 4.
For lack of a better alternative, yes, keep it in.
I like spewing my blind hate for that map.
Yes, make it go away.
