Should multiplayer have music?

Intense game modes like btb and firefight are meant to be as intense as can be. So why not ad music? I think songs like Halo 5 Warrior World would fit well with an intense multiplayer match. But what do you think? Should multiplayer have music and if so what song would you want?

I believe this was mentioned in one of the sound design updates (not sure if it was the video or the Inside Infinite). If I recall correctly, they said they will have some subtle music, but nothing intrusive. Halo 5 has something similar to this already.

I don’t want an actual full soundtrack playing during a multiplayer match though.

I mean, Halo has one of if not the best music suite in all of gaming so… dunno why anyone would say no?
Sorta off-topic but along with the traditional sound track that comes with the game, a remix album of sorts, like some dubstep / electronic / metal variants of some tracks

Because people don’t want to miss audio cues because of the music. If it’s in the game there should be an option to turn it off in multiplayer.

I think the really subtle music in the background is fine, no more distracting than other background sound effects. But the audio cues need to be audible to people over anything else. Adding an audio mixer for multiplayer should be easy too.

I believe they have hinted at there being an intro song and outdo song that plays at the beginning and end of matches. I remember halo 4 had music in matches when it released and it wasn’t done super well. We’ll see though this holiday

They have confirmed music will play during the intro and outro to matches but will be kept to a minimum or nonexistent during the match itself for the most part. This is most likely so players can have less distractions especially during a ranked match so there won’t be any excuse of “well I didn’t hear the enemy shooting at me because of the music” or something silly like that. I would love some atmospheric music for firefight or any kind of pve mode since that’s against computers and music would fit pretty well there.

Sounds like a really cool option.
I sort of miss being able to plug my mp3 player into my 360 and play music while gaming. Halo was essentially the only game I wouldn’t do that for haha.
But ya an mp hype music option for giving you a morale boost be kinda sweet.

I’m not in favor of it. There are some custom maps floating around in which the creator added music but ended up being quite annoying. I play with headphones so i also really like to hear where gunfire/steps are coming from and hear the sounds of the map and mechanics.

I don’t want music in multi-player but I’d be okay with Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin popping back into Halo.

Oh yeah, i just assumed that was a given

Agreed - I like music for the intro/outro but worry it’d be distracting mid-game. I think the only exception would be a quick musical cue as part of a time limit, e.g. a warning for 60 or 30 seconds left

Music also works for the pre/post-game lobbies, but that’s back in the menus

What I would appreciate is a separate setting for multiplayer music.

I want to keep music on in Campaign, but in Multiplayer I prefer it off. It causes more harm than good to me at the end of a close match.

i loved that in CoD: WWII, made the end of matches felt more urgent. I feel like it would be epic in modes like BTB and Swat
