I think I heard about this being tested in the making of a previous Halo, but the reason the idea was scrapped was because Bungie didn’t want players to feel unimportant and lost in the sauce.
I however think this would be fun to have at least as an option in custom games. That would allow 32 players to brawl it out like barbarians on a forged BTB map. Ahh… I can see it now.

The Xbox can handle it… Perfect Dark Zero was 32player and it ran just fine. But you have to remember that the more players you have the bigger the maps have to be. In PDZ I had no problems with this because I love the epic scale battle were you have to be more aware of your surroundings.

I hate big maps in the first place. Kids make their forge maps way too big now, anyway.
Anything over 16 just turns into cross-mapping chaos for most gametypes. I think it could work for the likes of Infection and Invasion, but not much else.

Exactly, battlefield is proof that too many players is just boring and a lot of running around aimlessly.

are you kidding me? battlefield is the opposite of that if you play it correctly. you aren’t supposed to go to caspian border, spawn at the primary deployment, and just run towards the battle. You are supposed to hitch a ride, then do whatever you want. get into the battle however you want, but once you do, its one of the most adrenaline pumping games ever. ever been in a moment where you are sniping from a building and the whole damn thing collapses underneath you? dont talk crap about battlefield, i have to go on mini rants whenever someone does. its HARDER to find a place to hide from people and vehicles than it is to find them.
No offense or anything, but battlefield is just as much my baby as halo is

Man sometimes I don’t understand why people can’t get this. The reason why battlefield is boring sometimes is because it’s made to feel like a sport. Like if you think about it you will understand it more of what I’m talking about. It has its boring times and exciting times and fun time off and on over and over again. Plus unlike most games it’s requires more team work and communication as well. That’s why it feels like a sport.

i agree.
One more thing i have to add to my mini rant is that battlefield captures this essence of real world large scale battles, you have to be aware of your surroundings at ALL times. Wouldnt want to get run over by a tank or have a building land on your head in real life, would you?
