I’ve been feeling like the pace of Infinite is on the slower side and not always in a good way.
I especially feel this pain in BTB, where the maps are huge and the vehicles are kinda sparse, but I also notice there are times where I spawn way too far away from my team to help in any way.
How would you feel about a mode where Spartans start with a single Grappleshot or Thruster charge upon spawn? You’d still be able to have equipment pickups to receive additional charges. I feel like this would bring some much needed fun to traversal in the game.
Infinite is in a good place with pace (nice rhyme) in my opinion, it’s a nice blend of Halo 3 & 5, giving people equipment at the start of the game will only disrupt that.
I wonder if that’s something they have tested. It’s preferable to loadouts or rechargeable armour abilities, but I still like the Arena style gameplay where everyone spawns equal and in BTB you have to Scavenge for something better.
I like the way it is. It combines different Halo Generations but keeps it balanced.
If you had rechargeable abilities in official matchmaking, especially ranked, it would be too much like Halo 5 in terms of having to be forced to use your abilities if they had unlimited usages from start, even if the ability cooldowns don’t change like the thrust.
I love the equipment being pick ups and limited usages, but the reason it is there is to shift the balance of the game in favor of a team for map control, not see who has better skill of consistently using it the entire match.
I think some equipment definitely needs tweaking… only 3 boosts? couldn’t even be bothered to pick it up.
Starting wtih equipment could be interesting. But they would have to make it so that it doesn’t drop when you die… otherwise it would just be like grenades where you basically have never ending grapples.
Three boosts is actually pretty useful if you use it properly.
Coming from someone who wasn’t a fan of Halo 5 thrust, just today I’ve been saved multiple times by using the thrust to dodge out of a situation on low HP or got to chase an enemy down just in time to finish them off.
If you use it sparingly and not just to get a “speed boost” like in Halo 5, then it is useful. Plus the respawn times for abilities are fairly quick. Typically when I respawn and run around the map the abilities recharge every time.
Yeah I see your point. My preference I think is for it to be rarer on the map + a lot more uses for the person that picks it up.
Because it is so common / most of the time it doesn’t give me a tactical advantage it becomes like seeing a mundane SMG on the map with 20 bullets or something… actually a decent gun in the right circumstances… But I’ll stick to my favourites because that pickup is “too common” and 20 bullets isn’t worth the pickup.
I think some modes should start with both equipment and unlimited use of equipment with minimal to no cooldown but only for an action sack playlist. Imagine the mini-games you could make with the grappleshot and repulsor alone without any of the BS restrictions or cooldowns.
Yes I think we should have equipment starts, but these modes should be restricted to action sack only.
I have been thinking about it as well but ultimately it wouldn’t be healthy for gameplay. Giving everyone a thruster would seriously alter gunfights and imagine a BTB where everyone has a grapple shot. Even a single charge would make every vehicle spawn turn into a spaghetti bolognese.
Looking forward to many fun customs with them but for the regular playlists we are better without.
That’s what forge and downloading modes are for. If you didn’t do these things in Halo 3, I can assure there will plenty of stuff to play when Forge gets into our grubby hands.
My ideal scenario for ranked would be starting with 1 grenade and 1Thruster charge just because the initial grenade spam gets so boring after years of seeing it.
