343 won’t kill off the Chief anytime soon. Would I rather see new heroes be given a shot or at least continue to expand the campaigns with multiple player characters to widen the scope of the story? Yes. I don’t think Chief has to die to do that, but it would be interesting to see him fade into the background as a legendary icon.

He honestly should have ended in halo 3, that was the perfect way to send him off, in mystery. Leaving it to the imagination.
343 needs to end him in a similar fashion, don’t let the player know his fate.

He should become the one who takes up the mantle of responsibility, like the forerunners intended. Having him become THE commander of humanity, or at least, a chief operative on how to protect the galaxy would be a perfect ending. From that point on, 343i can explore the expanded universe.

Master Chief always knew he would die in battle. In the end, he will make a huge sacrifice for the fate of the universe. It would be cruel to keep him alive after almost everyone he knows died around him.
