Should k/d ratio be removed from objective?

Something to think about for Halo 4

I think kills and deaths should not be recorded in objective game types. Only wins and scores. That will FORCE players to work as a team for the win and make the game more fun. That way you don’t have to worry about all the little things that add up to ruining objective.

Just note that I have a decent k/d ratio in Reach, but I don’t care. MOST people secretly care(I learned this from a poll a while back), so most people let that fear keep them away from objective. They’re afraid of the k/d boosters killing them in the hill. That’s why the objective population is always low. Remove k/d recording from objective and reward the winners, and I guarantee the population will be larger.

Your thoughts?

I completely agree.

Do it.

That wont change much. People still will go for the medals, ToD, etc

> That wont change much. People still will go for the medals, ToD, etc

Then maybe kill medals or sprees shouldn’t be registered or recognized in objective games. Only medals relating to the objective should count.

NO. Dude what are you thinking when u made this post…This is a shooting game. Teamwork and winning still means a lot.

I agree very much with the OP.

I don’t care much about k/d spread, but I think I have another solution. You need to reward the player for helping to complete the objective. In gears of War’s King of the hill, you get 200 points for capturing the hill. This motivates people to capture and defend it, since you get more points for the hill than an individual kill. Also add a point bonus for winning.

Reward players for completing the object, and their less likely to just kill people for the credits or their k/d spread.

> Do it.

I agree as well, it would make objective gametypes actually worth playing as well as more fun since people would concentrate on playing the game properly rather than just trying to get a high K/D ratio.

Wouldn’t the world be a better place if nobody cared about their K/D ratio?

I like how BF3 gives player the opportunity to reward players who aren’t all about the killing.

Now i know Halo is different, but ONLY in objective would this work. Reward players as much as a kill as say, for capturing the flag, or holding the oddball etc…

Stupid idea , who cares about k/d and if you are good you will have good k/d in objectiv game if you suck…sory life is brutal and full of traps ;]
I miss old good times when Halo was sipmle and nobody were listenig compayning noobs…

If no one cares about k/d no one will care if it’s removed.

Not the solution. Everybody would still elect to punish their opponents to show their dominance, stats being tracked or not.

If a team is able to showboat and play keep away, good for them. There are no referees to penalize players for poor sportsmanship.

It is fun, IMO, to impose your will on other players sometimes.

If you cannot deal with other gamers’ successes in videogames, how are you going to accept not being as successful as some people in life.

You going to call the police to take away someone’s luxury sportscar after he parked next to you POS station-wagon?

You can be good at slaying and bad at objective and still have a good chance to win. If you are bad at slaying and good at objective, you have a poor chance of winning. K/D is important.

YES. Oh God, YES.

> You can be good at slaying and bad at objective and still have a good chance to win. If you are bad at slaying and good at objective, you have a poor chance of winning. K/D is important.

Bad at “slaying” =/= Negative K/D.

I can get 15-20 kills in an objective game, and still go negative, because I was focusing more on… Y’know, the Objective.

Yes, I don’t play the objective game type because of this reason

Yes, only k/d ratio should be removed from objective game types. Even though k/d rarely effects objective gameplay in Halo, it will weed out the few that don’t play objectively. If you compare our objective gameplay to cod, then you would easily see that cod is in desperate need of removing k/d lol.

Either way, I wouldn’t really care if it’s removed in objective gametypes. Win/loss should still stay. Ehh idk what would happen to the medals. I change my mind again. Just keep it, because it may complicate things and some are motivated to play good and win the objective.

Those that beast in objective games and play objectively should still be rewarded for there efforts. High k/d and most scored bombs.

I disagree. In Reach, no one has the incentive to go for the objective because of the god awful ranking system. Everyone is rewarded for their time played in the match. In Halo 3, you had to win the match to rank up.

If halo 4 includes a ranking system that actually rewards people for winning, then people will go for the objective and people will stop complaining about stuff like this.
