When you play Halo 5’s Multiplayer, your teammates will say helpful things like “Enemy at Bottom Mid”, “Sniper Rifle is mine”, etc. While this is helpful for those that do not possess a microphone, I feel like it discourages usage of a microphone. Why call out enemies yourself when your character does it for you? At least you have the option to turn these callouts off. I don’t know whether or not I want these callouts to carry over into Halo Infinite, but I am interested in other people’s thoughts.
I don’t think it does that but it may help some when people don’t use mics anyway.
I just prefer silence and mics, I just think that player models dont need such callouts. I can really just see everything I need to and I dont need unnecessary callouts to obstruct such sounds as footsteps for example.
I’d like to see them kept with the option to disable. I think it adds to the immersion.
I think there should at least be an option to toggle them on and off.
i hope that halo infinite’s multiplayer keeps callouts because if you are not playing with a mic then you will still have a general idea of where the enemy is.
I think it’s pretty handy. Saved me from charging an enemy I couldn’t see who had a sword before. I think directional callouts would be a good idea too. Like in the original battlefront games where you hit a direction on your d-pad and itll say stuff like “follow me” or “fall back” or something.

How have you not noticed the frequent yelling from Spartans and warzone marines?
I personally do not like the callouts. They can be helpful and give good info, but they tend to be annoying to me. However, I wouldn’t mind if they were kept but were toggleable and could be turned off.
I don’t like the callouts. Sounds too much like COD soldiers talking to eachother. I miss the silence & having a master chief voice in the multiplayer.
I really like that the Spartans talk. It being optional is all that’s needed. I wouldn’t mind if they talked more at all either. Not necessarily call outs either. I just think it’s cool when they say stuff after you’ve got a kill sometimes lol. Could just be that I like the fact one of the voices is the dude who did Garrus Vakarian for mass effect tho haha. So I wouldn’t mind that in the next game.
i’m actually a bit tired of games holding everyones hand. people should learn to communicate with each other again. if you want to keep callouts, make them at least like in battlefield, so you have to press a button for your spartan/elite to make the callout (could be up on the d-pad or something).
yes, i know it’s easier for solo players with callouts (and even with the anouncment of weapon spawns), but i think someting is lost in multiplayer that way.
and i also am fully aware, that this is just my opinion and others can differ, but i just wanted to say, that i think we as players are allready being hold by the hand way to much.
Nah, the game shouldn’t make callouts for you. It’s no different than radar - a crutch.
After thinking about it for a while, I don’t see any benefit in automating communication for players. While one could argue that it helps players who would like to communicate, but whose teammates aren’t cooperating, I don’t see the point of this help. After all, the point of communication is to show off your teamwork skills. The game passively informing where opponents are and what teammates are doing defeats that purpose, since no teamwork is actually being used. That is, it’s just unnecessary hand-holding.
Really, this is only marginally different from just showing a marker on the screen for all of these events, which in turn is essentially just a more powerful radar. And even the standard radar is unnecessary hand-holding that makes the game less interesting.

I mean it doesn’t make people not use mics

I don’t think sounds like COD is an argument at all.
Also guys do you think its a handholding? I never even noticed it being helpful and I havent listen to it really. One reason is that I have no idea where those places they mention are.

I never said it does but unless you never have the gameplay volume I wouldve thought you’d hear it
I’m fine with them remaining an option. That way people like them can use them, I personally don’t.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I’m just saying that OP’s fear of callouts leading to less people using mics seems futile. Most people won’t use mics whether there is callouts or there isn’t.

True, but I do think that if they were removed, those players that are very strategic/tactical in their play would feel left-out. I don’t really know, I am not one of those people, so I should not speak for them, right?

This. The problem of H5G callout system is that it isn’t a player action. If someone doesn’t have a mic or in the case there is a language barrier, by having a com system similar to old school BF could come in handy! It could be something quite simple too frankly. I’m driving? D-pad up to call for a gunner! PW I don’t need on the ground? Aim at it plus d-pad up to tell your teammates. Spot an enemy? Point him out! But don’t make it automatic just for “immersion” sake. I never understood the immersion factor anyway… It’s FPS multiplayer guys and girls. Gameplay before everything!
