Should infinite have canon "clans"?

What I mean about this is that if halo infinite is open world, you could join the Sangheli, Unsc or Oni. I know this is similar to games like fallout 4 but it could give some more possibilities in the game. Maybe like the “clans” could give you stuff only they have and missions if you join them specifically.

No. This game is meant to be focused on Master Chief, and his allegiance is only to the UNSC (and by extension I guess ONI). Even if it is open world, this system wouldn’t work. What could work I suppose is something like faction rallies in Destiny where you pledge to a certain faction and earn rewards based on that faction in multiplayer (i.e. choosing Sangheli would unlock Helioskrill or something). Even then, I’m still not a big fan of that.

I thought you were going to go in a completely different direction. Like if creating a clan you’d have to make your clan something that could canonically exist in the universe. For instance you could name your Spartan company whatever you want, but it would always be called ______ Company, with other naming conventions like Fleet of _____, _____ Team, Fireteam _____ etc.

no.

  • we have fireteams in canon, fireteams are loyal to their commanding officers and the military they serve and are highly coordinated and cooperative with themselves and other fireteams and branches. clans are only loyal to themselves and are only cooperative with themselves. - the only way that would work is if both the UNSC and UEG completely fell apart (which, realistically isn’t going to happen) leading to insane amounts of in-fighting. this in-fighting would leave humanity vulnerable to any of the covenant remnant factions or the created or even the flood (because yes they are still around) leading to the ultimate destruction of humanity. - why would anyone even want it canonized? clans are one of the most toxic things to come out of the halo community. I have not met a single clan that does promote open hostility toward anyone outside the clan. I’m also not sure why anyone would even join a clan to begin with. why do you want someone else to control what armors you can wear, what your username is, how you play, when you play, what games you can play, and even who you play/interact with. its so unnecessarily negative and restrictive, I don’t know why anyone would view it as fun.
