Should Infinite have been delayed until 2022

Everybody knew the game looked good but needed a lot more work when we saw the E3 gameplay and I can’t say the delay we experienced came as a shock but it was still disappointing. Then when Joe Staten was brought in it gave us all some hope that the game could be fixed and Infinite could meet it’s potnetial.

We’ve obviously all experienced the launch and some aspects of the game are great but most of the game is lacking content, polish and in some areas is still unfinished now although I still believe that Infinite has the potnetial to be the game we all wanted it to be but it will take more time.

Although I have enjoyed the game since it’s launch I think more work was needed to give us the game we wanted as a fan base and I’d have been disappointed to wait an extra year but if I knew that the extra year of development would have given us a finished profuct at launch I’d have been happy in the long term.

What do you guys think?

Are you happy with having got the game when you did and we’ll get gradual updates or do you think 343 would have been better off spending another whole year developing the game with potentially some gameplay beta’s to give us a taste before a better launch?

2022 seems pre-mature. 2024 at least.

The moment they mentioned co op wasnt in at launch i knew it needed to be delayed. Its such a basic feature of halo that it missing was a sign that there were many other issues they weren’t telling us about.

But all us people asking for a future delay got was people saying coop didnt matter and that the game was feature complete.

Most people dont enjoy being nay sayers. Its not fun, and its even less fun when we are proven right.

Infinite should have most definitely been delayed. The game was not ready because 343 was not prepared, as usual.

Agreed. I was happy with the MP early beta release but that labeling said it all right there. If they didn’t have cold feet every time they crawled out of their shell to literally talk about new halo stuff , the only thing they do beside support GoW, then these last 7-8ish months probably would have felt more focused and dedicated to the health of Multiplayer(+forge) while Campaign got the long-tailed finalizing. (Yes I would’ve been fine if they delayed the Destiny 2 knock-off mode for a year)

You can only release a game once. If it sucks at release and you lose your fan base, it’s going to be very difficult to win them back especially if your plan is to do it one update at a time. Releases have a lot of hype to them and ppl are forgiving with small things, but not so much with foundational aspects of a game.

They should have just called this Halo 6: Grapple hook, since that’s pretty much the only cool thing that’s new in game, then start releasing DLCs. But I don’t know maybe their full vision was just what we got plus Halo coop. Maybe that’s just as good as Halo infinity is gonna get.

I figured it was obvious. When 343 announced the co-op and forge delays it was clear the game was not ready. Those of us calling for another delay got shut down by those saying “if multiplayer is ready, let it launch.” Obviously these folks weren’t willing to see the writing on the wall.

Now, all the players that were “sold” a complete game but got a demo and left are not coming back. The damage is done. 343 and Microsoft may have gotten a return on their investment, but it is a drop in the proverbial bucket of what “could have been.”

That’s why those of us that are left are upset. What we have is generally fun, but the mishandling of the Halo Brand has squandered massive potential.

Infinite should have been delayed until they finished the game.

2024 or 2025 is when Infinite will have everything that Halo 3 had at it’s peak I think.

It’s like that Shigeru Miyamoto “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

This was back in 1995. Clearly, he was way ahead of his time.

The game should have been delayed 3 more years

I’m glad it came out when it did. My friends and I are still enjoying the heck out of the game!

The campaign is fine as is with the exception of Co-op. The release as-was was fine for Multiplayer the issue was not being able follow it up quickly enough- in part that was a timing issue as the devs took a well earned break over the holidays. Delaying Season 1 to the new year may well have helped

Are you though? Halotracker says you’ve only played 3 times in the last month

i think the mutliplayer only needs to have been delay and not the campaign.

since the big problems are in the multiplayer and its now a big mess more.
and not the campaign at all.

Delaying the game wouldn’t have done any good or made the game any better. They had 6 years!

All of the creative leads, design leads, and other members of the dev team that left show the state of the company and how difficult it must be to work there.

If anything, they’re lucky they got the game out the door before those team members called it quits. For all we know, those people would have still left during the 2-3 year additional delay making the dire result of the end product ultimately the same.

you know also most off the 6 years it took then to make a new game engine from scrap.
its not like most game’s sometime’s use game engine’s like the Unreal Engine that some company’s make that game company’s can use for there game’s sometime’s.

and not forget a lot off other things like sounds effect’s there are using take’s also a lot off time to do it.

Not exactly. It’s actually partially based on the engine that was used in Halo 5: Guardians. It’s not the exact same engine and it was “Supposed” to have enough “Improvements” to allow it to do things for Halo that were previously not possible. But it’s not completely new.

it wouldn’t have mattered how many more years it would have been delayed. the overarching problem is, that it was designed to sell MTs and nothing else. more content would have been good, but seeing, that everything is just designed around selling MTs, the additional content would have been designed to sell MTs as well and therefore wouldn’t have been as good as it could be (like the rest of the game).
the inherent problem of this game is at the ground design level. more time wouldn’t have changed that.

(just remember, that the first thing confirmed for this game, years before the next confirmed thing, was microtransactions)

2024 still wouldn’t give us that quality 343 puts out try 2030

Wrong most if that time was building off a previous engine and making a halo hero shooter only to scrap it and make a actual halo game thats why you saw certain halo 5 weapon variants in the code
