I want to play it on Xbox Series X. However, I want to wait for a special console edition modeled after Infinite. Do you think there will be one? Or should I not wait and just get a regular Xbox Series X instead?

Don’t wait. The chip shortage isn’t expected to end anytime soon. And no special edition console will be easy to grab if there is one. Best of luck!

I’d have said if you’ve waited this long, wait til the end of the summer. If there’s going to be a special edition console for launch it will be announced soon.
That said, I’d be willing to put money, were I a betting man, that there won’t be an Infinite special edition Series X console for release, for the following reasons:
- If they had planned one, it would already have been deep into production by the time the delay happened. Given the components shortage, I can’t see them keeping the consoles on the shelves for a year waiting on Infinite. - If they hadn’t already planned one for the original release, have they had time to plan and put it into production and produce them in time for the new release since the delay? Especially given component shortages? - When the Series X itself is still not readily available at stockists, is a limited edition really required? It too would just become a target for scalpers and indeed jjst regular consumers rather than the community it was perhaps aimed at.It’s certainly not impossible, but personally I just don’t see the market being right for it this year.
If you want something in the meantime… honestly can’t be complimentary enough about the Series S. Fantastic console and great entry price.
Yep. It doesn’t make sense to do one now. They can’t supply enough base consoles for the market at the moment.
Best to wait and do one as a two or three year anniversary / commemoration.
I would just get a Series X whenever you can at this point. The chip shortage means supply is struggling to meet the demand.
Head of Xbox; Phil Spencer was asked about this kind of recently. He essentially said that whilst they do like limited edition consoles they also need to prioritise getting consoles out to the people that want them. Limited editions aren’t off the table completely but they’re less of a priority at the moment.

You can get some sick decals for the base unit and it will be easier to get a limited edition controller over the unlikely to exist series X limited edition. As people have rightly mentioned.
Just get a standard edition first. You won’t regret it.
There are a lot of game you can enjoy before Infinite releases.
I was in the same boat waiting for an infinite edition one but I happened to actually get my hands on one and couldn’t pass it up. I haven’t regretted going with it.
I’m sure they’re gonna do a limited series but honestly with the shortage going to be continuing the rest of this year and through to the next, I would get a series x when you can. You don’t wanna wait until Halo is already out and you aren’t able to find one.
You’re better off puttin a custom Halo skin on a regular Series X. It’s doubtful theres a special edition series x for Infinite l.

I am with Nebby here. the series x is hard enough to get as it is and with the component shortages happening I just don’t see it being plausible for them to pull off a special edition for Halo. I hope they do but I just can’t see it happening this year at least. But that being said you could get these adhesive sticker plates to put over the series x. I hear they look really good although a bit tedious to put on lol

You have the Series S? I’m thinking about getting that one. It’s much stronger than my og Xbox One, problem is finding one

Series S is a great option, especially considering the Series X is super hard to get a hold of.
Series S consoles are generally more available, though still in limited quantities.
Will be a great console to play Halo Infinite on that’s for sure.
There’s an Xbox Series X in my local used game shop, currently going for around £600. I have been very tempted to buy it but then I always remember that my original Xbox One hasn’t died on me yet, and that has been going since 2013.
Well…I get an extra paycheck next month. I’ll get a series x then.

Yeah I’m majorly impressed with the S. Storage isn’t even too much of an issue at all given the games I really use
If you want the full next gen experience, you actually have to get a Xbox Series X with a 120hz Monitor/TV. (maybe also in 4k)
It is a lot of money, almost like a mid-end gaming pc. but worth the money as soon as infinite is released.
Better not wait, if you’re lucky enough to get one, take it.
The Special Edition is finding one available to purchase. At worst if you bought one right now at retail cost and by some miracle also were able to buy the special edition that isn’t coming, you would be able to make all your money back and then some on the original.
I believe Phil Spencer eluded to the fact that there wont be any special editions for a while given they are still struggling to keep up with demand for the base version.
