Should I switch to bumper jumper?

I started playing Halo 5 in January 2018 and i’ve been using the default settings for awhile now. I want to get a lot better at H5 by switching to bumper jumper - the question is should I?

Yessssssssss.

Albeit I would review what pro’s play under, but to everyone’s liking.

When I’m at my finest in 1 v 1, I noticed I jump more often.

Just give it a week’s time and you’ll start getting it down. Easy peasy

What is your current controller? Ie standard, elite style controller with rear paddles or buttons , standard controller with counter strike paddle kit?
If it standard controller and you don’t want to learn claw grip I reckon why not. There’s pros and cons to every setup and also a new annoying adjustment period but if you got paddles or remappable rear buttons I’d say no as it easy enough remap everything how you like it.Will.it make you a better player that’s a very debatable subject?

Definitely do it. It’s a game changer

How do you get use to it? Been playing default on every halo since halo 3.

Out of all of them I felt recon was more my speed.

if you’re already comfortable with your regular settings, get ready to suck for a bit. Changing a control scheme in a game like Halo is going to make you play considerably worse until you get used to it. Obviously you might benefit from playing with it later on down the road, but keep in mind that whatever settings you have atm are hard wired into your brain and muscle memory, therefore you will always have the urge do press certain buttons and will get confused a lot.

My recommendation is that you just stick to what you’re comfortable with, and if you find yourself struggling with the new controls, just stick to what you’re used to. Also, if you have bigger hands like I do and don’t have the best joints due to working a lot, you’ll find that techniques like the claw grip or all that other junk will be impossible to play with.

I almost always stick to the default settings in any game because they’re usually the best for most players, unless you wanna try to play like a “pro” and use the “advanced” or “tournament” settings and controllers, go right ahead, but that won’t instantly make you a better player; in fact, you might play much worse.

Example: people were telling me in Gears of War that if I want to play my best, I have to at least use the Tournament setting so I can have my fingers on the joysticks at all times, which will then make wall bouncing easier. So I tried it, and sure, it made wall bouncing easier, but since my play style isn’t someone bouncing around the map constantly and I have no problem alternating my right thumb from the A button to the joystick, I just went back to the default settings because it’s what I’m used to and I’m comfortable with.

TL;DR: Just play with what you’re comfortable with no matter what people say, especially if they’re reasoning for playing with a scheme is “oh but the pros use it.” FYI, nobody on this forum is a pro. lol

Helljumper and get elite controller.

You probably would get better in another year, I personally tried switching to bumper jumper and couldn’t do it. I had an average of -9 k/d every game so I switched back. Buying paddles helped me out alot so I didn’t have to switch controls.

Don’t, Bumper Jumper is for Innie scum! I bet you play inverted too!

Any sensitivity recommendations for bumper jumper? Right now I use 4.5 I think.

I’ve been on 10/highest in all halo games since Halo 3. Play with what you are comfortable with and bump it up every so often if you want. Being able to react faster is key but many pros dont necessarily play with high sensitivity, just goes to whatever you’re comfortable with.

In that case you are better off with the halo 4 config but i here bumper jumper is the way to go. Trying it myself.

Yes, i was using the default since Halo 2; but with this change I improve so much my gaming

Go for it. Helljumper and Bumper Jumper are two really good control schemes for H5. Personally I play Fishstick and one of my friends plays Southpaw, but we always recommend Helljumper or Bumper Jumper to everyone we play with that asks. I’d say they’re the two best layouts in the game

I used to play on recon before I made the switch to bumper jumper. It takes time getting used to it. But in the end it’s definitely worth it

10/10 would recommend.

Especially if you’re using a standard controller, this seems to be one of the most comfortable control schemes for most people.

Definitely give it a try, but if it doesn’t work out don’t be ashamed to go back to what makes you comfortable.

I would recommend getting a controller with paddles. It’s a game changer.

I play on recon and picked up a scuf controller. I have finally built up muscle memory to jump using the paddles and my skills in all shooter games have drastically improved. The ability to jump while strafing and aiming is more useful than you can ever imagine.

Learning the new layout will be difficult at first but you will see huge progress when it starts to click.

Learning to push one new button is easier than learning a new position for every button.

my biggest concern is the aiming. any tips? I can’t hit anything when using a sniper now
