i am thinking about getting halo wars 2 but I also really want to get halo 5… which one do you guys/girls prefer ?

I, myself, prefer wars 2. Why? Because I don’t think 5 is halo any more. It has strayed too far from the righteous path that is the original trilogy. Also I discovered that I love RTS from switching from playing 5 (because I had nothing better to do at the time) to wars 1 around a year ago. I haven’t looked back since. I have literally only played wars 1 and 2 exclusively for almost a year straight. That’s probably a new record for me.

No problem. Honestly though I never knew I liked RTS so much until I played wars so regardless what else you play I would at very least give this one (wars) a try!
H5 multiplayer was fun and brought back some good memories of H3. But I hated the jet boost and sprinting.
H5 campaign is a different thing all together fun cool action, lots of bs, and then there is Spartan Locke who was terrible. Terrible story. Terrible ending, terrible AI, 3 missions of Blue team.
Warzone was fun to change it up but I am a team DM guy.
HW2 has a very fun challenging campaign, fun multiplayer gameplay, and campaign videos are just freaking awesome. The game has a lot more to come.

If you can afford both, I’d say get both. Halo 5 has a very disappointing campaig, but the multiplayer is so much better than Halo 4’s
If you can only get one, I’d say Halo Wars 2. This game is so much fun! I feel like there is a good amount of strategic depth, in addition to not having a high skill floor. You will need to be patient learning the basics of RTS games and the basics of Halo Wars, but once you’ve done that this game is so much fun, plus gives you lots of room to grow and learn new things.
Consistent DLC drops and patches do a lot to improve Halo Wars 2 as well.

Remember in wars 1 where there was a cutscene after every mission that filled you in on what is going on and gives the story a sense of time. Wars 2 doesn’t have that so to me it is entirely possible that the whole thing could have happened in a day (which it most likely didn’t but there are no time indicators after the missions so honestly who knows). I feel like it could have been done better in that respect but the premise and main plot were fantastic.

Agreed on everything, voice acting for the in between parts sounded not very well acted out. Yeah less cutscenes between missions, but they just made the vid cutscenes longer.
I do love multiplayer as well it is so fun to me also.
I just think this was a rushed low budget project to pushed by Microsoft to fill a gap to H6? /Theory
I am glad they did it, but Campaign was lacking a bit like I said above. I dunno about other game franchise like COD. BF, The giant mech one with no story on game 1. But I think Halo franchise fanbase loves the lore/campaigns/ awesome cuscenes/Spartans almost as much as we love the multiplayer action. Halo 5’s only redeeming qualities are Forge and the insane amount of weapons/vehicles. I give it a 6/10 for normal gaming standards, a 3/10 for Halo standards
Halo Wars 2 is simply good, 8.5/10 by Halo standards, a 9.5 for normal gaming standards. For reference, I give the original trilogy all 10s (except Halo 3, it gets a 12), Reach an 8, HW1 a 7.5, and ODST an 8.

Let me start by saying, since you posted this on a HW2, I would not be surprised that people would recommend this game. I definitely enjoy HW2. It is a different style game and I find RTS very entertaining, and there just aren’t many RTS games that made it to console that are playable. Games typically don’t play out the same, as there is a variety of styles that can succeed in a RTS. I think Wars is not very stressful either, and can be played while enjoying a beer. It is different than everything out there, and still has some of the connection to the wildly popular Halo franchise. Wars 2 is definitely worth getting.
You should get it.

halo wars 2. The art style fits the halo universe better and we need to show 343 that its the artstyle and theme we need in halo games. not this hodgepodge of halo/call of duty/ other sci fi garbage aesthetic that halo 5 has
