If you have no problem with either of these, then you should get it. I plan on getting it despite disliking these aspects.
Some people are complaining about the multiplayer and sound but these are not essentials. What matters is the combat experience of the campaign. It’s why it’s called Combat Evolved. I play CE with the volume off and I can still enjoy an original experience.
OP, I loathe Reach and it’s flawed gameplay compared to the previous Halo games. With that said, (since you are wanting people who primarily dislike Reach to answer) I play Halo 3 10x the amount of reach. I guess you can say I play reach maybe once a month and halo 3 every week.
All I can say is Halo CEA and the classic maps that are now added to reach make it more fun. Sure it’s still reach multiplayer but if you are a classic halo player from the old ages of 2001 then you’ll have no problem giving a taste to the new halo fans what Halo was like in the past.
This is kind of tough…I have the game, but I am not into campaign gaming like I am matchmaking gaming. Although, I haven’t played it, but I am sure the campaign is really nice. The graphics to this game are beautiful and the details in the matchmaking maps are great. There are a couple of maps which seem to be a bit smaller than the originals, but they’re still great to look at and are fun to play in. Currently, matchmaking is a bit rough and could use some changes. If you don’t like Reach matchmaking then you’re probably not going to like the current matchmaking of Halo: CE Anniversary. If you’re into graphics and would LOVE to see the original CE’s graphics updated then you’ll probably enjoy the game. Look at some screen shots and watch some YouTube clips before you decide…I hope this helped a little.
I played the first 2 real levels in campaign and loved it. The classic only playlist made it feel like a Halo game again with the shorter kill times and no armour abilities. The other playlist are TU playlist. They where fun but not like the classic playlist. It is funny how innovation/change can make, break, or divide a high profile game like this.
I have no problem with the elite models being reach models. Skull locations dont matter much to me either as long as they are fun to find.
What I do have a problem with is spending 40 dollars and then finding out the single player I have already played and loved was ruined with a whole bunch of glitches.
And since I dont have multiplayer to distract me from that in this game seeing as how I dont enjoy Reach… You can see why im kind of skeptical.
It helps that the entrance fee is 20 dollars cheaper but at the same time I could pay 20 extra dollars for a brand new experience with higher production quality and it would be a better deal.
Im a huge halo fan tho. My whole high school career was taken over by halo 3. I got a 50, got multiple accounts, got all the achievements. Played customs till my fingers hurt. So yea I got a heavy bias.
Thanks for all the feed back. If anything Im gonna be around on the forums and see if they update the matchmaking a bit before I get it. I hear the jump height is atrocious.
I def support a more classic feel to multiplayer. If anniversary can provide that then Ill def look in to it.
They promised the original Halo CE pistol but they did not kept there promis.
The anniversary pistol still has not the right amount of bullets in the clip.
This makes the pistol a secundairy weapon and NOT a weapon to start with.
