Should I get Halo CE or Halo CE Anniversary?

I have all the Halo games up to Reach, besides Halo Wars and CE, and, obviously, I’d like to play the first game so I can fully understand the story and complete my collection. Which version of the first game would you guys recommend? If I was gonna get the original CE I’d get it on the PC, for sure, I just don’t really know which one I should get. I really don’t like what 343i is doing with the newer Halo games, but as I understand it, they didn’t really change all that much besides the graphics and the sounds and the multiplayer this time around. Obviously, better graphics would be a plus, but I’m willing to deal with worse graphics if the overall experience is better.

Sooo…CE or CE Anniversary?

Halo CEA lets you switch between new and old graphics. As far as I can tell it’s the exact same as the original.
It doesn’t come with Ce’s multiplayer, but it doesn’t sound to me like you’re going to be playing that anyways.

The PC version lets you mod it and as you can see in my signature people do some pretty crazy stuff with it. And it’s only like what, $10? Might as well get both.

I seem to remember some people stating that they replaced the old sounds of a few of the guns with new ones, but yeah, I know that you can switch between the new graphics and the old by pressing the back button on the controller. And yeah, I’m not too interested in the multiplayer, I have Reach for that.

Where are you seeing the PC version listed for $10? I’m just seeing a bunch of $19.99s.

Ebay has some for $10 and many for only slightly above that ($13). Point being it’s relatively cheap. You actually only really need a CD key anyways if you plan on using the Custom Edition version. I’d let you use mine but I lost my case awhile back.

The new sounds only apply to the enhanced graphic version, and they’re only slightly altered anyways.

I would get the original CE just for an “older experience”. Even though you can change the graphics on anniversary… Idk it just feels better to play the real thing

I love Halo CE because the updated graphics feel refreshing and fun to look at when ur playing

Honestly, I think CEA is a good choice because you can have fun with switching the graphics from new to old, and it has some OK multiplayer. But the best part is, it still has the classic splitscreen multiplayer and campaign, and since the multiplayer kind sucks, you can just grab a friend, sit on the couch, and play some Halo. And you know, has really nice graphics.

CEA doesn’t have the classic Multiplayer. It’s just Reach on CE maps with custom settings.

Halo CE Anniversary

I would say just buy Halo CEA because then you will have both versions of Halo CE.

OP what system do you own the 360 or the One? Are you mostly doing the campaign or looking to do MP as well? If your doing multiplayer as well I’d highly recommend the MCC. With that you get the campaign in both styles remastered and original plus you get the classic MP with all the PC maps, weapons and vehicles included as well. If you need people to play MP with I have over a 100 people I play with in the MCC CE Wise. We mostly do rigging for team slayer 4 vs 4, 8 vs 8 rigging BTB for Halo CE or we do customs as well with the same thing and your welcome to join.

Also Ramir3z77 do you still play MCC? If so you have to get on this as well since I know your a big CE buff.

Ended up doing what Ramir3z77 suggested, and bought CEA. I plan to get a copy of the PC version as well, though. Thanks for the suggestions!

Sorry, I only have a 360. Don’t really want to blow $300 on a new console.

Honestly Anniversary. I’d say that because of the upgraded graphics, I get why people like to look back on their treasured favourites but for myself personally I crave the best graphics, looking at spuddy potato graphics for a long time makes me sad.
