Should I Buy Halo 5?

So I’ve been a fan of Halo for years, ever since Halo 2 was released, and I’m planning on picking up the Xbox One/Halo 5 LE bundle for Christmas. But looking at the forums here on Waypoint, it seems like many people think the game has some flaws with its ore mechanics (aim accelerating, radar). Now I haven’t actually played Halo 5 or the beta, but based on people’s reviews I’m leaning towards going for it. Do you think that someone like me will have trouble adapting to this game after logging total playtimes of a couple weeks over each of the previous Halo games? I loved the aim and radar in 2/3/Reach/4, but that seems to be one of the main problems that hasn’t been mentioned by 343i, at least not that I have seen. Other problems like gametypes/maps getting stale I think will come along with the Forge update in December so that doesn’t seem to be a problem if I get it for Christmas. From people who have played tons of previous Halo games, how hard was it to adjust to 5?

Yep, amazing game, Don’t listen to the haters

If you get it for Christmas then I’d say its 100% worth it. By then there would be much more content and hopefully most of the minor problems fixed. What you’re seeing with all the complaints are people simply being loud about mostly minor issues. For myself and my experience, I’ve been playing Halo since 2 and I haven’t seriously played a Halo game for about a year before Halo 5 came out, and I’m doing just fine. It’s not too hard to adapt to the broken aiming deadzones after a few matches.

Yes you should. Definitely worth it.

If you are a big PVP play. do not buy for the story. best to wait closer to Halo 6 for the story. Forbes put it best:

Thank you for the feedback! It looks like an awesome game so I’m probably gonna pick it up and try to adapt pretty quickly, and by December it should be even better.

For me (as a veteran Halo player), it took a couple of days to get used to the new experience. Aim acc/dead zones…
But on the other hand, I know I’ll never get that old ‘Halo-feel’ back. It’s more of another fps game designed for esports.
Ranking system isn’t fun but the game overall, I think it is.
So yea, you should get it.

If it’s any help, Halo 2, imo is the pinnacle of Halo, had a blast with Halo 2 parties. I’m assuming you would know my feelings on the other halos saying that. With that said though, H5 is amazing. The best multiplayer in Halo I think I’ve played. Super competitive and balanced.

If you really want to play Warzone, rank up and get goodies, yeah. Otherwise, I’d probably hold off until December or late Nov.

This game is for competitive online FPS players now. If that’s your scene, and you don’t mind getting less “Halo game” and more “online competitive shooter” for your money, then it’s a buy.
If you’re into playing by yourself - not online, or if you like to share the experience with in-person friends and family, then this game is not for you.

Yes, its great game that just needs a few tweaks. The tweaks will get worked out over the next couple of weeks.

Nah, its not worth it. Its got a terrible RNG loot system. Campaign could’ve been better. Wait till December for a better deal with more content.

This cant be said enough

If you’re going to but it with the Xbox one bundle, defiantly.

so you went to the official halo forums to ask if you should buy halo 5???
Do you ask people at chinese restaurants if they like chinese food, too???

Unless you’re expecting splitscreen, yes. Buy it.

If you like the multiplayer get it. Campaign is not what it seems.

Buy the game if you don’t like it sell it

Halo 5 is, to me, one of the best Halo games. The Campaign is great and the multiplayer is great. Really the only thing to worry about (that WILL be fixed by Christmas) is that we only have 6 gametypes to play; Slayer, Team Arena, Warzone, Swat, Free for All, and Breakout. Slayer and Team Arena practically being the same thing from what I’ve played of them. But like I said, it will be fixed by the time you get it. Halo 5 is an AMAZING game.

I would try to play it at a friends house or maybe rent it. It still feels like a beta. Map selection / rotation, “competitive matchmaking”, and the inconsistent dead zone complaints are turning a lot of folks away. Eventually they will have no choice but to swallow their “eSport pro” pride to address these issues. Even if you enjoy it you will understand the validity for the cosmic amount of feedback on these forums. I just hope they do it before we lose people, competitive or not.
