Should I buy Ghost Of Onyx?

After I’ve finished reading Halo: First Strike, I immediately though about getting Halo: Ghost Of Onyx. But after reading Eric Nylund’s comment about wanting to change a few errors he made in the book, I was afraid that when I bought the book, 343 announces on republishing Ghost Of Onyx with the fixes. So should I buy the book, or should I wait?

Fixes to the original three Halo novels only included small little tidbits such as spelling errors and miniscule canon issues, nothing within the narrative has changed. Other than that, Ghosts of Onyx is a brilliant read and my personal favorite piece of canon and literature within the franchise.

Considering that it plays into Glasslands in a level we don’t know of yet (save for the recent Data Drops), it is an essential read!

You should definitely buy it. Honestly, if 343i tries to release a new edition of it, not much will be changed in it if it follows the path of the reissues of the first three novels. Aside from Fall of Reach, Ghosts of Onyx has got to be my next favorite in the series.

I think the main reason why Nylund would like to rewrite any of his works is due to the expansion in the Halo universe. I’m sure there’s a lot he’d love to add into the books but I think at this point in time, 343i is more concerned about getting Glasslands and Primordium out than fully diving into past books to fix or add anything to them. I think it’s one reason why there’s still a lot of inconsistencies among the reissues of the first three books.

But yeah, I’d definitely suggest picking up a copy of Ghosts of Onyx.

For what it is worth, I will add my affirmation to this topic. Ghosts of Onyx is definitely worth a read, and I am still convinced (or desperately hoping) Onyx is the setting for Halo 4.

Impossible since you know what happens to Onyx.
