Should I be good enough to carry a team?

Right now I am Ranked in silver in BTB, but I seem to be out of place. My teams aren’t winning, but I am usually on the top of the leaderboard. So obviously I am not good enough to carry the team to a victory, so does that mean I just belong in silver?

I know I am not an onyx or even a diamond player. I think I might be a gold. Should a gold player be able to carry silver players to victory?

THis is by no means a bashing of the ranking system. I would choose this ranking system over EXP rank any day of the week.

If you’re the best person in a match, you’re in the wrong match.

It all depends really. It just sounds like you got placed in the wrong division and can’t fight your way out because of bad teammates to me. That’s a persistent problem with this ranking system. I like how it puts team victory above all, but it causes these problems. Perhaps you shouldn’t rank down if you are the MVP on a losing team.

Yea, I think you are right. I just didnt know how big of a jump Gold is to silver. I know in Halo 3 I made it to a 45 playing by myself in slayer, and that was with the same ranking system.

I think some of the Silver players shouldnt be in silver and should be in bronze that I had been playing with. It also doesnt help you still see AFKers

I always am 1,2nd place and never get wins in a row in BTB bud you are not alone.

Team just sucks. Well, silver doesn’t really have great players anyways, they’re ok. No offense to you. But you probably got place in the wrong rank (happens when ranking is based off win/lost vs skill).

Carrying a team in Halo 5 is a lot harder than it was in other games.

Yea, but I was wondering if I am not good enough to pull the team of silver through to a win maybe i dont belong in Gold.

Yea, most of my deaths have come from vehicles.

The first 10 placement games actually go off your personal stats more than your win/loss.The ranking system does a decent job in placing people in ranks, beside FFA and SWAT, since everyone gets Onyx in those.

I’ve asked myself that question more than once. Like yourself I started out as Silver, believe I was 1. I was in Silver for a while and found I was always at the top of the list so I’d go up and down repeatedly until I happened to get “lucky” and get matched with decent teams to move into Gold. Same went for Gold, up to Gold 6 down to Gold 2 usually at the top of the list. Now that I’m in Platinum (highest has been Platinum 5, then I nosedived!) I find the skill levels are all over the place, myself included, but at least I should be where I belong now.

Further to my point though, I think the problem might be you can’t get demoted past a certain point or placements are a little wonky. I’ve been matched against Silver players who tore a strip off of me, while in the same game I have a Diamond 2 on my team that couldn’t land a headshot if bobble head mode was a thing. I’m assuming 343 did this so people don’t get frustrated by being demoted to a lower league but something isn’t working right. I’m curious to see how things play out after the reset now that the majority of people have had their hands on the game since release, maybe it will stabilize a bit :). Overall though like yourself I’m not complaining about the MM, just some observations is all.

Being silver in BTB sounds like fun lol I’d be happy you really need a group to get far in BTB since at higher levels you will match parties mostly

Oh its fun. But it doesnt seem right. I feel bad for some of the people honestly. I dont want to ruin there experience with the game. I remember people in Halo 3 who would get new gold accounts just so they could go through the lower players again.

Don’t think it has been announced but people seem to be saying sometime between now and early December. I’m not sure if 343 intends to announce how seasons work or not, in chats today on Twitch people seem to be saying it could be as early as the 24th/27th but nothing concrete. I would imagine at the latest they will do this in time for xmas when they would expect more copies to come online but still more speculation than anything.

I think I had a KD of 1.5 after my placement and I got put in silver 1. I think my KD would of been higher but it was the first time I played those maps, and gamemodes in halo 5. I was sticking with warzone until I felt I got some of my BR aiming back.

That’s not true. It’s based on win/loss and who you vs. So if you win against Gold, next match they might place you against Platinum.

I considered myself and still do to a large extent a supporter for a ranking system based on wins versus individual performance. Though, with the placement matches instead of straight rank progression, I’m starting to see that having individual performance work alongside wins into the ranking system would be beneficial.

Also, my story is a bit reversed. I got placed in the platinum league and my teammates are carrying me, it hurts to come of games repeatedly with death and death, I just can’t help it, they are above my skill level. I just got lucky with the my teammates and it’s to my detriment

Not true. Played with a team of 6 on BTB for our 10 placement games. My team members were ranked Silver Gold Platinum and my brother and I were ranked Diamond. since we played together…so…not sure how you can dispute that your personal performance does not have a major impact on the placement rank. I agree that your initial placement does include win/loss and who you play against, but it’s heavily determined by your personal performance.
