I was disappointed that hornets or maybe even falcons weren’t in halo 4. Banshees were, why not hornets?
There was a huge lack of aircraft in MP for H4. The Hornet, Falcon, and Banshee should return in H5.
There should also be some new aircraft in MP. Maybe a Covenant aircraft.
In Skyline there was a Hornet.
The Banshee felt extremely restricted in MP. I constantly felt as if there was barely any space to fly around in, the Mantis could take out the Banshee pretty easily, anyone with a PP and some sticky grenades could also take out the Banshee, and someone with a DMR could chip away at the Banshee.
I would prefer the Falcon to return over the Hornet since the Falcon plays a different role than the Banshee while still giving the UNSC an Flying vehicle.
The hornet felt like a Banshee with sleds, while the Falcon felt like I imagined a Pelican was like, except scaled properly for Halo multiplayer.
Add a number of variant similar to the Warthog and allow passengers(with objectives) and I will be very happy. Maybe a flare feature(if their is a lock on weapon) or at least some sort of emergency thrust to dodge heavy weapons.
I’d take either one or possibly both, maybe even something new as long as there is at least some type of UNSC flying vehicle in the game.
I would like to see both aircrafts to make a return, Halo 4 lacked air battles. The Banshees aren’t enough in my book.
Halo 4 didn’t have any maps that had the room for a Falcon. Maybe Longbow, but even then.
I would like to see the Hornet return because I think it has more potential to balance with the Banshee, and it was also a better vehicle for objective-based games. Ideally I’d want to see both return, but if only one returns it should be the Hornet IMO.

A huge difference from Halo 3 is that now most guns can work against the Banshee, flying to much in the open can make you an easy target for DMR or sniper fire as opposed to the rocket lock on which we could easily predict as well.
The Mantis is also more or less the same class as a tank, so it taking out a banshee is just as normal as the scorpion would.
But to the point, the Hornet was removed for a reason, it was incredibly powerful and maneuverable, the main reason why Bungie kept it away from BTB until the weaker variant popped up on Avalanche and even after that it’s capability to strafe as an air vehicle made it a huge pain to deal with.
The Falcon was introduced to balance as it lacked the high sideways maneuverability that the Hornet had and its easy firing capability (you really need to get an angle to make good use of the turrets on the side) while also requiring team work to execute it (but if done right it is easily the most dangerous thing in the air).

And I waited for this to address another issue with Hornet, when flying through the air there are few things that can stop you (well in Halo, turbulence is every explosive heading your way), when the objective carrier is in a warthog they can still be stopped with a variety of ways (including the terrain) but in the air you usually have a straight line to the delivery point with few things that can stop you.
This is why Bungie removed the ability of using the passenger seat Online from the falcon, it is simply way to easy to acquire the objective with.

I feel that is an easily solvable problem given the right mix of power weapons and vehicles. It may not be appropriate for every map, but I can easily see it working.
I didn’t even mind the Avalanche hornet to a degree as far as objectives go. For one landing and grabbing the objective is very dangerous for a flying vehicle. I just feel that it was too easy to make it too the ‘friendly’ side of the maps and man cannons were not fast enough to keep up.
The falcon was the greatest addition that reach brought to the franchise. Bring it back.

I am bothered by the fact that two or three people on the enemy team can take out a Banshee with DMRs from across the map (Ragnarok especially). If you weren’t able to spawn with the DMR it might not have been such a problem.
The Mantis was pretty much OP. If it was able to move faster nothing could stop it.(maybe a tank)
I love the Falcon and the strategies that it brought. The Hornet would need to change to prevent its power. Less maneuverable? Less health? By the time it was fixed it would be almost useless to use. I would love to see it but it would have to stay the same or be nerfed a lot.
I would love it if they brought back both the Hornet and the Falcon and gave the Covenant a new aircraft besides the Banshee. That would be awesome!
Yea, I personally think that they need to bring one back and maybe a forerunner aircraft. Hell, maybe they should bring in a stack of vehicles for forerunners
I would like to see them both return. The Hornet to fight the banshee and the Falcon to hopefully match something else. (I hint at an equivalent Covenant vehicle to be introduced.)
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Falcon, it just wasn’t as fun to play with. That said, I think the Hornet was a little OP. I’d rather they make a new vehicle that controls like a Hornet, but is a little more balanced and unique.
Sure. As for which one, I’d probably be fine with either. I was kind of disappointed at the lack of aerial combat in Halo 4, due to there only being Banshees, so it’d be nice to see them come back.
I would prefer the hornet to come back but if the falcon came back I would still be happy. Because the falcon gave the the gunners a chance to shoot unlike the hornet did. But the falcon did not give the driver a chance to fight so I hope the hornet will return.
Yes to both.
Hornet can stay as it was. Lightly armored, decently armed, not the easiest thing to drive.
Falcon should have countermeasures so it can stay up there longer, especially if the weapons sandbox tends towards Halo 4’s ridiculously heavy ordnance. And give the thing a passenger seat for flag carriers.
Why are people criticising the lack of a Hornet/Falcon in Halo 4? The maps are so cramped in terms of flying space that it’d be super hard to maneuver (only possible exception to this is Longbow. It barely works with rhe Banshee as it stands, and as far as I know, the Falcon was the fastest vehicle in Reach (idk about the Hornet but it was pretty fast as well). There’d be no point. The Hornet/Falcon had a purpose in Halo 3/4 because of the larger maps, but since Halo 4 is so compact, what would be it’s role? It’s speed has no use considering the smaller map size, and it obviously has weaker firepower than a Banshee. So what would be the point of it? Just to put it in because of derp?
Regardless, yes I love the Falcon and I would love to see it appear in Halo 5, but only if the map size warrants its use. Add passenger seats too and make it a bit more durable, so it isn’t as much as a flying deathtrap.

> Speaking only for myself, my criticism is also for the map design. The low ceilings and ridiculously high walls feel contrived. They certainly don’t accommodate a flying vehicle sandbox. So my criticism is for the map design, and thus the lack of Hornet/Falcon/vertical combat.
I would really love it if the Falcon made a return.
