Something that I loved about Halo CE, Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach was the inclusion of health bars. It adds kind of a competitive atmosphere to the game play and it could differentiate it from games people claimed it copped like COD. Let me here your thoughts on the subject because it is something that no one really talks about but I am hoping that this feature will come back to Halo Infinite’s game play.
I like h5s health system but if they can make the health system work better than find health pack in location X then I think I’ll enjoy it.
I would definitely like health bars to return. Most games nowadays just use the same old Wolverine regeneration and a few more health bars would be nice.
Do you mean you want to see your enemies health bars above their head in both campaign and multiplayer? I’d like that as an option in campaign but don’t want it in MP.
EDIT: My bad I misunderstood. Campaign; yes, mp; no.
@OP: I believe there was a tread about this not too long ago?
Maybe it was another forum… Anyway, many players are against it sadly, at least in MP. Players tend to camp near health pack spawns. Even though I still believe it’s more a spawn area and time thing.

No, he means a HCE/ODST/Reach like healh system. Shields plus healh bar basically!

OHHHH, I misunderstood, thanks for pointing that out. My answer is pretty much the same, campaign; yes, multiplayer; no.
Simple solution: Classic Skull
The skull gives you a health bar and health packs are spawned on the campaign map. (New/more skulls to change the campaign experience would be awesome)
i would like to see a return of the health bar system from CE/ODST/Reach.
I liked the health bar combined with the shield functioning as partly regenerating health (both systems)
Yes. In CE, ODST, and Reach, I had to be more deliberate and careful in the choices I made. With 2, 3, 4, and 5, I could blunder through a group of enemies, hide, and do it again until they were all gone. It wasn’t as strategic
EDIT: I also liked how you could see exactly how many hits were left before you died, whereas with only shields you aren’t totally sure how many hits you can take
Yes, I would like to see health bars return, but at the same time I would also like if the health bar didn’t lie to you.
What I mean that is every Halo game post CE(unsure of ODST) your shields make up the bulk of your overall hitpoints with your underlying health only having a bit over half the hitpoints. In Halo 3 and Reach it was 45/70 health/shields, whereas in CE it was an even spread of 100/100(the specific numbers don’t really matter, just the proportions). Halo 2, H4, and H5 seem to follow a similar system to H3/Reach if not identical.
The end result is that any underlying health damage you take is actually a much larger problem than the healthbar would have you believe. This leads so frustrating deaths where your remaining health vanishes in an instant the moment your shields go down. This same scenario just doesn’t happen CE barring a high damage weapon like a grenade, shotgun, or rocket, or you are otherwise just scrapping by with one notch of health(but in that case you at least know you are on your last legs.)
What makes the health and shield dynamic in Halo interesting(at least in theory) is that the hybrid health system allows you to take risks while still giving you the shields to fall back on. Recent, in fact I would say most Halo games just don’t have this dynamic. If your shields go down, you take cover, period. Health regen is one factor but the fact your health hitpoints are so low is a bigger problem.
TL;DR Bring back health bars, equalize health and shields so they are 50/50 with hitpoints, and if health regen returns it should be drastically slower than Halo 5 where there is virtually no difference between recharge rates.
Health bars would make the game more immersive for me, however I think some changes should be made. It would be cool if during campaign, your health does take damage, but over a period of time it comes back, but much more slowly than we have currently. This way, portable health packs would have a reason to return, but the player wouldnt be screwed if they get down to one bar of health.
I believe the shield health and vital health system in Halo 5 is fine. If your health bar goes down, it takes a considerable amount of time to replenish, so you can either risk getting killed easily by not letting it regenerate fully before getting back into the fight, or you can lay low for a few extra seconds and let it regenerate. Keep in mind, in the seconds you are letting your health regenerate, you’re not doing anything for the team: not scanning a sector, not securing a power weapon or power up, nothin. So that’s basically the trade off. With this system, it eliminates the need for health packs seeing as how regenerating your health already forces you to sacrifice something, the equivalent with a health pack system would be searching for a health pack and picking it up (which in my opinion just slows the gameplay down and becomes a chore.)
I would rather them not return, but if they must then I hope they are confined to campaign. It’s just not a system I find enjoyable
When you mean health bars do you mean a non regenerative health system that needs health packs to heal? Or do you mean visible health bars on the screen. Because halo 5 has a health bar AND regenerative health, while the games you cited don’t. At least not completely, I believe you partially heal in Reach at least, but not heal completely.
If you do mean health packs/non regenerative health. I’d say add it as a custom feature AND in specific modes. So both, I think it would add more the game and custom games/forge if you could do that.

I’d really like to see the Halo: CE health system back for campaign.
I like a 1v1 encounter where I win over an opponent that’s equal to me. Both encountering each other fully shielded. I wouldn’t like to have gotten lucky just cause the opponents heath was low.
I believe certain situations become easier (getting kills by opponents going predictable routes to get their health back up), and other situations a lucky/unlucky result.
Like sure, I understand it’s a team based game. It’s not always about 1v1s during the match…but they do of course happen. With all that being said, I’d like the current system in tact for said reasons.
Campaign: Yes
Multiplayer: No
You know how much I got upset during Reach because I had to waste time finding a health pack? On another note it’s a great challenge while playing the Campaign on Legendary.
No. we’re Spartans not Marines
