I wanted to drop this here to hopefully highlight some ways we can really get the conversation going here within the community! Hoping 343 will see this and take note of the result - whatever it may be
I for one - would love a good gif to further add some flare to my comments and posts but media attachments aren’t allowed currently
No. I don’t want threads to be cluttered with people posting gifs all the time, especially if that gif contributes nothing to the topic at hand. I don’t want to be in a discussion with someone only to have them post a gif in response. This isn’t Twitter or Facebook.
If they were Halo gifs then I suppose that wouldn’t be too bad, but even then a single gif response would probably be considered as spam.
Eh, I’m kind of mixed on this. On some forums gifs can be useful, but Waypoint just doesn’t feel like one. This isn’t a message board and it’s definitely not discord. Gifs would end up being more spammy than useful for conversation much in the same way a 1-3 word reply would be.
I voted no as this is primarily a discussion forum about subjects related to Halo. As such, features should be implemented carefully in order to main that this is an accessible discussion forms.
Images/figures in general are very rarely used appropriately in discussions and instead are used in a distracting way. In addition to that, overusage of images can also contribute towards longer load time for users with bad internet. Due to these reasons, I voted No.
Like someone said this is a discussion forum and I think gifs would be counter productive. Also agree with LukePowa that trusted members should have it or have it unlockable like forum signatures on the old waypoint.
@BIGB_EC I agree. I voted no because they would end up being spammed and really they add nothing of value. Also it’s good to see you made the transition.
Waypoint is about the only forum I frequent so I figured I would at least check it out. I go on the destiny 2 forums on reddit and it is all pointless memes. Only thing is lately I have had not much to say so I might not post as much.
On the forums themselves? No. However, I actually think it would be a great addition if we could use it in Private/Group messages. Keeps the comments from being cluttered with them, but still allows people to communicate to others that want to use it. The common ground is usually the best.
That’s a good point, when it comes to spam it could fit weirdly.
However if they could make it work without causing that issue, I’d like it. But Halo gifs ONLY.
No. And if there are, then I want a tickbox that disables them. Nothing worse than reading a thread full of images. All the decent content gets lost in the quagmire.
