Should Halo Infinite say "Optimized for Series X"?

After seeing the gameplay demo that apparently “ran on a PC with equivalent specs to the Xbox Series X”, combined with the sub-par graphics, I believe that from what we were shown the game, at least at the time the demo was recorded, is not optimised for Xbox Series X.

If core Series X enhancements like raytracing aren’t present in the game at launch, surely when advertising the game to consumers they should not be able to say “Optimized for Series X”, and it should not appear on any box art, until the optimizations are actually included in the game? Otherwise it it deceiving marketing and it is lying to consumers? Thoughts?

For all I can tell, this “Optimized for Series X” badge requires one (or more) of the following:
DirectX 12 Ultimate Raytracing
4k@60fps (or lower resolution at 120fps?)
Fast load times (Xbox Velocity Architecture)

The above information is from here: https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/06/25/xbox-series-x-full-power-of-console-games-optimized/

Halo Infinite can (seemingly) do 4k@60fps, and I think it uses the Xbox Velocity Architecture for fast load times. Therefore, it is optimized for the Xbox Series X. Post-launch, it will (supposedly) be able to do Raytracing as well. Additionally, although not an “Optimized for Series X” criteria, Halo Infinite will also feature Smart Delivery (buy it once, own it on later consoles). Note though, that it might be able to run 4k@60fps on the XB1X, so it’s mostly the fast load times that makes it “Optimized for the Series X”…

I wouldn’t say the marketing is deceiving, just a (mostly meaningless) attempt to market games that are intended for XSX (versus the XB1). They want to push players to buy the XSX without forcing them off the XB1 platform. After all, gamers behind the times can still buy an Xbox Live subscription.

Yes. Because it is obviously not a proper next gen title. It is not being built from the ground up for Xbox Series X but instead the original Xbox One which is over 8 years old.

What an absolute letdown. Console seller like hell.

Ugh, imagine getting an Xbox One X in 2018, as I did, partly because you thought Halo Infinite was coming out sooner and that the One X would have the best version of the game
…and now realizing the One X version will look even worse than that demo lol

That demo was a catered slice of polished gameplay designed for public reveal. Imagine what the rest of the game looks like :joy:

This is a little unfair tbh.
The first piece of Halo 5 campaign gameplay we saw was part of a Sanghelios mission, it looked good, and the rest of the campaign turned out to be visually consistent with it

So does that mean it is likely the rest of Halo: Infinite will look like the July gameplay upon launch?
